If you spend a great deal of time stuck in traffic during rush hour on the Long Island Expressway, stopped at red lights driving through Huntington, or stopped at the Huntington Long Island Railroad crossing, it can get very tire-some keeping your foot on the brake to keep your car stopped. However, Mercedes-Benz vehicles have a feature designed to help with situations like this. With the Brake Hold Function, offered in select Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you can keep your vehicle stopped without having to keep your foot on the brake the entire time.   To use the HOLD Function, simply depress the brake pedal as normal until you come to a stop. If you wish to activate the feature, depress the pedal even further until you see the word HOLD appear in the instrument cluster. Once you see that word pop up, you can safely remove your foot from the brake while the car keeps the brakes engaged and the brake lights illuminated. When you’re ready to start moving again, all you have to do is depress the accelerator pedal and the feature will be turned off. It is important to note however, that the Brake hold function does not work as a parking brake. If you need to park the vehicle, you should shift the vehicle into park and utilize the parking brake. 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 2019 Infiniti QX50 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2019 Infiniti QX50 Among the crossover vehicles of Mercedes-Benz, the GLC is probably the most fascinating. It is not like your usual Benz that is both poised and formidable. Yes, it is a beauty, but the GLC is also quirky with its off-road capabilities. It is also a practical choice, given that it comes with plenty of customization options. The QX50’s roots date back to 2008 and it was known as the EX model. It went through a lot of redesigns and updates many model years later. The all-new 2019 Infiniti QX50 is very different in a lot of ways from when it first came out. Let us check out if these improvements can challenge the desirable 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC. Design & Style The big star logo is distinctly attractive with the GLC’s semi-voluptuous shape. The perfect curves and creases on its exterior are only a preview of the spectacular cabin. There are intricate shapes that hug the interior. The trim can either be wood or metallic, and it cascades beautifully on the center display screen. The latest QX50 spearheads the current design direction of the brand. It has a double-arch grille, a bulging hood, and a tasteful dramatic kink on the rear roof pillar. Elegant styling is also applied for the cabin. Its stitched dashboard gets a lot better on higher trims, with natural leather and plush suede inserts. Technology & Safety If you want to drive the GLC on a daily basis, it is already equipped with the essential tech features that you will need. The adaptive cruise control, in particular, is well-applauded for being precise at all times. While the new QX50 offers a two-screen setup for infotainment, it failed to offer new features. The system is so behind that it would take a while to use its connectivity functions. There are available driver aids with its ProPilot Assist bundle. There is nothing much to expect from it, however, as it is very limited in its abilities. Performance The base model of the GLC has a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for a 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It delivers a confidence-inspiring driving experience and an authoritative acceleration power even at highway speeds. Across all trims, the QX50 gets the same 2.0-liter engine with up to 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Although the engine is now more competent, the transmission is a let-down as it noticeable lags a half-step behind. The Bottom Line There is no doubt why the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC is a definite winner in this match-up. It’s classic and luxurious styling, advanced tech features, and strong driving prowess indicate that it can do more. 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 2019 Infiniti QX30 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA vs. 2019 Infiniti QX30 Most of the Mercedes-Benz cars lineup is introduced to have both stately power and control. The GLA, however, is not like the usual Benz. It is a bit on the rough side, especially with the GLA 250 4MATIC® model. It is equipped with all-weather, light off-road capabilities, which is a very unusual move from the brand. The Infiniti QX30 is typically a newcomer. It only came out two years ago and it shows. The brand cannot seem to decide whether to market the QX30 as an SUV, a sedan, or a hatchback. It has a bit of everything, to say the least. Here is a comparison of the 2019 Infiniti QX30 to see if it can match the leading vehicle in the small luxury SUV segment. Design & Style The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA gets only a few updates every model year. The changes are mostly tech and security upgrades that get modernized yearly. For its current design, the new GLA has steeply-angled roof pillars and a prominently sculpted body. For its cabin, the dash features circular vents and an aero-inspired design. As for the QX30, it has a curvy styling that makes it stand out. It is apparent, though, that the QX30 “borrowed” some of the GLA’s features. In fact, most of the interior is similar to that of the GLA. The only difference is that Infiniti tried to create a modernized version, probably to make the rivals look conservative in design. Technology & Safety There is a range of advanced infotainment system features that makes the GLA an entertaining crossover vehicle. Its audio-navigation systems are exceptional and are already decent even at the base model. There are also standard driver aids like automatic emergency braking and a rearview camera. Even the infotainment system of the QX30 is a copy of the GLA’s. It has an Infiniti software and offers technology and navigation packages. Only *Bluetooth® is available for connectivity since there is no advanced smartphone integration available. Performance Under the hood of the GLA is an optimized engine for a 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Its performance can be described as sharp and energetic. It can sprint from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds. This is quicker than its close rival, the Audi Q3, and is almost the same with large SUVs. Predictably, the engine for the base model of the QX30 delivers the same horsepower and torque as the GLA. It even has almost the same acceleration result of 6.9 seconds from 0-60 mph. The Bottom Line It is obvious that the 2019 Infiniti QX30 took the GLA as an inspiration from the design down to its engine. The QX30, however, was not able to level itself with the GLA. It failed to surpass the classy aura of the GLA even with its modern design touches. Its tech features are also not enough to match the advancement of the GLA. It is a comfortable ride with the right amount of advanced features. The premium tech and performance are noteworthy, even though it is an entry-level luxury sedan. These are just some of the reasons why the A-Class is the one to beat in its segment. Even the impressive 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will find it difficult to match the A-Class’ prowess. Here is their comparison to see why. Design & Style The ultramodern design of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class gives the car an aggressive and athletic stance. The LED lighting details plus the clean lines gave it a sophisticated and attention-grabbing aura. The cabin is likewise treated with premium elements that easily captivate the eyes. While the company was aiming for a timeless styling for the Jetta, it came out as bland and uninspiring. Performance The A-Class has a turbocharged engine for a 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. Athletic drivers will be enthralled with its sharp road performance. Its acceleration from 0-60 mph is clocked at only 6.4 seconds, making it one of the fastest in its class. It also has a nicely balanced braking system. It is impressive how it can smoothly stop even from a fast speed. The Jetta comes with a 1.4-liter engine that delivers 147 horsepower. Although its performance is also impressive, it is not as fast on the road. It clocks 8.4 seconds to get from 0-60 mph which is at the middle, if not slow, on its class. While it has an excellent on-center feel, the steering can get a little rubbery and the chassis is not communicative. The Bottom Line The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta may have a lot of potentials but failed to come up with enough features to topple the A-Class down. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class proves that a car can have it all, even if it belongs to the entry-level segment. Tires are an important part of driving a vehicle. Your whole entire driving experience and your safety while operating a motor vehicle relies heavily on the tires. One hint that your tread is thin is if the tires squeal when you make a turn. You can also measure your tread by doing the "Penny Test". Turn it upside-down and insert it in the treads of your tire. If Lincoln’s head is easily visible, that means the treads are worn, and it’s time for new tires. If Lincoln’s head disappears, your tires are usually just fine. Before you apply the Penny Test, ensure that your tires are properly inflated. You can also drive through our TreadSpec Machine in our Service Drive, where you will get a printed report of your current tread wear and alignment status on your vehicle. Your Service Advisor will be able to answer any of your questions you may have about your report. Loss of Tire Pressure It is important to make sure that your tire pressure is up to the required PSI in all of your tires. It has been found that tire pressure or pounds per square inch (PSI) decreases at an average of 1 PSI per month.
