It is undeniably one of the best-looking cars in its segment and precisely the reason why many people are drawn into buying it. The 2019 Audi A5 comes back with minor changes from the previous model year. It is a tough competition between the C-Class and the A5 since these cars are always pitted against each other. Performance The 2.0-liter engine for the base trim is already powerful with up to 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Driving is exactly how being in a luxury car would: plenty of power, great handling, and a comfortable ride even through bumps. It delivers precise road feedback and stays firmly rooted even in tight corners. The A5 has a 2.0-liter engine across all its trims. The four-cylinder engine can churn up to 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is slightly above average when talking about daily drivability. There is a noticeable hesitation from the engine with initial acceleration. The Bottom Line Both cars have impressive high marks across all criteria. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, however, is a few notches higher as its interior styling is impeccable. It also has a slightly powerful engine that makes a lot of difference when on the road. 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 2019 Ford Mustang 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs. 2019 Ford Mustang The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a sedan wearing a prestigious badge. Sedans may not be as appealing in today’s market, but the A-Class is not bound to fail expectations. Too much effort has been spent to come up with a completely redesigned model that will simply change the numbers for sedan sales. As far as small cars are concerned, the 2019 Ford Mustang is an attractive contender. Will it charm its way to win against the A-Class? Design & Style You can say that the new A-Class is a modernized sedan. On its front is a lowered hood that is flanked with slim headlights and the large Mercedes-Benz star on the signature grille. The exterior is also defined by character lines that run across the shoulder and flowing subtly over the front wheel arch. Inside is just as modern with the large glass surface for the infotainment screen. The Mustang has a prominent honeycomb grille and eyelid-shaped headlights. While these features are head turners, most of the details are not too obvious. This may be because of the simple sports-car shape that the Mustang has adapted. Technology & Safety The A-Class utilizes the innovative MBOX for its infotainment. The entire setup looks tasteful especially with the lighting displays and the superb audio system. While the features are simple, the knob-based interface may look naïve especially because it does not come with the latest smartphone integration. Driver aids are also optional but very limited. Performance The turbocharged engine of the A-Class for a 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque is enough to offer a sharp road performance. The acceleration capability is impressive at 6.4 seconds from 0-60 mph. The balanced braking system is helpful and instills confidence when driving at higher speeds. The car also shifts smoothly and has more than a sufficient grip on the road. As a light car, steering and handling are the strengths of the Mustang. It is equipped with a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces up to 164 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is noticeable how the tiny engine feels weak during low acceleration and will only feel eager during high revolutions. Although it has minimal body roll when turning, mid-corner bumps will bother the chassis. The Bottom Line Even though the 2019 Ford Mustang tried its best to come up with the best combination of style, power, and technology, it failed to match the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The Mustang should improve more on its performance and it will also help if it gets the proper upgrades for its infotainment. It seems like lately on Long Island there has been lots of unpredictable and crazy weather, especially near East Northport and Commack. This summer has brought lots of rain, thunderstorms, and crazy weather so far, especially this past weekend. This past weekend many people in the Long Island area saw hail falling from the sky, which also brought gusty winds that brought down trees and power lines. One may ask, how do I protect my vehicle from sustaining hail damage during a storm? We here at Mercedes-Benz of Huntington have compiled some tips for you to protect your beloved Mercedes-Benz should a hail storm hit Long Island again. Park Your Mercedes-Benz in Covered Parking For those that may not have the luxury of having a garage to park your vehicle in, there are many other options to keep your vehicle covered during a storm. One option is to invest in a low-cost carport that your vehicle can park under. Not only would it protect your car from any hailstorms in Huntington Station, but it also would keep your car out of the sun and cooler in the summertime, not to mention protect from sun damage. If you get word that there is a potential for hail in the areas of Cold Spring Harbor and Fort Salonga, you can also keep a list of addresses where there is public covered parking, such as a public parking garage. If you need to go under cover last minute, it is a good idea to park under a gas station canopy, or also park next to a large building to prevent the hail from hitting your vehicle. For example, if a storm is coming from the east, park on the west-end of the building. The building may be able to shield your car if the winds are strong enough. Use Blankets or a Car Cover It may be a good idea to invest in a car cover to not only protect your vehicle from hail damage, but also from other natural elements your car is exposed to outside. If you are in a pinch and do not have access to a car cover, you can also cover your car with blankets. You can utilize duct tape at the bottom of the car to keep the blankets on your car during the storm. When in a pinch, if you cannot find blankets to utilize or do not have a car cover, you can use your floor mats on top of your car. While they could blow away, and they may not protect the entire car, they can still minimize any hail damage that could be possible. Whether it is rock chips, road salt during the winter, or hail during a hailstorm, your windshield should be strong enough to take a beating. However, your side windows may not be as resistant and can get damaged by hail. Southampton Fresh Air Home’s American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci will take place on Friday, July 5 from 7 pm to 10 pm, and will include a fun filled carnival with everything you can imagine. If you spend a great deal of time stuck in traffic during rush hour on the Long Island Expressway, stopped at red lights driving through Huntington, or stopped at the Huntington Long Island Railroad crossing, it can get very tire-some keeping your foot on the brake to keep your car stopped. However, Mercedes-Benz vehicles have a feature designed to help with situations like this. With the Brake Hold Function, offered in select Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you can keep your vehicle stopped without having to keep your foot on the brake the entire time.   To use the HOLD Function, simply depress the brake pedal as normal until you come to a stop. If you wish to activate the feature, depress the pedal even further until you see the word HOLD appear in the instrument cluster. Once you see that word pop up, you can safely remove your foot from the brake while the car keeps the brakes engaged and the brake lights illuminated. When you’re ready to start moving again, all you have to do is depress the accelerator pedal and the feature will be turned off. It is important to note however, that the Brake hold function does not work as a parking brake. If you need to park the vehicle, you should shift the vehicle into park and utilize the parking brake.
