How Should I Prepare My Vehicle for the Summer?

At Mercedes-Benz of Huntington, our Service Department highly values the safety and longevity of our customer’s vehicles. Many of our clients will come in before their summer road trips to upstate New York, the wineries out East, or weekend in Montauk, to get their vehicle ready. The most common question we get is, “What should I be doing to get my car ready for the summer?” .
When we receive this question we always start off by recommending our customers come in for a complimentary Multi-Point Inspection, and Fluid Top-Off!
A multi-point inspection at Mercedes-Benz of Huntington involves a comprehensive check of your vehicle to ensure that it is in optimal working condition. This inspection typically includes a thorough evaluation of several key areas:
- Exterior and Interior: Checking the condition of the body, lights, and mirrors, as well as the interior features such as seats, belts, and controls.
- Engine Compartment: Inspecting the engine and related components, including fluid levels, belts, hoses, and battery.
- Undercarriage: Examining the brakes, suspension, exhaust system, and other components for wear and tear or potential issues.
- Tires and Wheels: Assessing the condition and alignment of the tires and wheels to ensure proper balance and wear.
During the inspection, certified technicians look for any signs of wear, leaks, or damage and provide recommendations for any necessary repairs or maintenance. The goal is to catch potential issues early to prevent more significant problems down the line, or even worse, on the way to your summer adventure.

If one of our factory trained technicians happens to find a problem during your Multi-Point Inspection, they take a video, showing and detailing the repairs and maintenance needed, so that our customers can have a better understanding of their vehicle. Full transparency is important to us, and this is just one of the ways that we love showing our customers that their vehicle is in good hands here at Mercedes-Benz of Huntington!

One of the most common repairs/ maintenance items needed in the summer is a Cabin Filter Replacement. Mercedes-Benz recommends that we change our cabin filters every two years of 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is always included in your B Service. In the summer time, clients usually tell us that they smell an odor coming from their air conditioning. When we start using our air conditioners after a long break, is usually when you start to notice that your cabin air filter has accumulated a lot of debris, and is causing this smell.
