Back in November, our very own Dealer Principal, Jim Buzzetta, of our Mercedes-Benz dealership in Huntington, NY had been nominated for the prestigious Dealer of the Year Award presented by TIME Magazine! Fast forward to now and he will be honored at the 103rd annual National Automobile Dealers Association show in Las Vegas on February 15th! The dealership trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada will be held at The Las Vegas Convention Center and is a four-day event happening from February 14th-17th. Industry leaders, manufacturers, exhibitors, and personnel from dealerships near Huntington, NY and beyond all convene to learn the latest tools, tactics, industry trends and automotive news there is out there. We are so beyond proud to have Jim as our Dealer Principal, and we cannot think of anyone else who deserves this award more! Jim was nominated for this award by the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association. The award is sponsored by TIME in association with Ally Financial, and in cooperation with NADA. A panel of faculty members from the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan will select one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year. Three finalists will receive an additional $5,000 for their favorite charities and the winner will receive an additional $10,000 to give to charity. In its ninth year as exclusive sponsor, Ally will recognize dealer nominees and their community efforts by contributing $1,000 to each nominee’s 501(c)3 charity of choice. Nominees will also be recognized on AllyDealerHeroes.com, which highlights the philanthropic contributions and achievements of TIME Dealer of the Year nominees. Jim’s nomination has been mentioned in many local and national news outlets, such as Patch.com, the GNYADA newsletter, and many more.Jim earned a degree in Finance from the University of Vermont in 1988. While he initially pursued a career in banking in New York City, he decided to join his family’s business, Competition Automotive Group, in 1990. 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA 2020 Volvo XC40 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA vs. 2020 Volvo XC40 The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is a compact SUV that is appreciated for its being agile, luxury appointments, and an impressive crossover functionality. Performance The standard engine on the GLA starts at a modest 208-hp and comes with a power liftgate and three performance modes for optimized engine and transmission settings. This makes the GLA a perfect car to have across different weather and road conditions because it can easily adapt to the environment. As for the XC40, its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is quick and responsive. It has, however, less power with only up to 187 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque for the base model. The high-performance trim is the T5 but it can only deliver up to 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Bottom Line The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is a subcompact that delivers a full-sized luxury car’s performance. It is surprising how it is able to balance unexpectedly good handling with such an indulgent size. Unlike other big cars that tend to have a compromised exterior, the GLS looks stylish and full of substance. This is why many driving-enthusiast parents would prefer it over anything else. Many people noticed that there seems to be a glitch on the updated setup where it does not pair well with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Performance The GLS is rewarding to drive, thanks to its 362-hp engine. Its steering is precise and provides an accurate feel of the road. It is also amazing how GLS can easily adapt to a variety of roads. It does not have a problem being on the road or off of it. The Explorer is also better to drive now compared to the last version. It is powered by a 300 hp engine that is perfectly adequate. There is a hybrid version for more power but it is not as refined and transitions feel rough and not well-tuned. The Bottom Line The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS has many capabilities that can only be described as awesome. Many big luxury vehicles are struggling to balance its looks to its character, like the 2020 Ford Explorer, but the GLS will have none of that. The E-Class is also biased on comfort so you never have to worry about a bumpy ride with its reliable air suspension. The standard engine of the A6 is a 248-hp engine that also delivers a noteworthy performance. Unlike the E-Class, however, the A6 is not particularly explosive in terms of acceleration.
