Alternatives for Children Pop Up Party Pavillion

This year has been a tough year for most of us living in Long Island, New York, or even anywhere else for that matter, to say the least. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many changes have occurred in our day to day life that have been out of our control, that have affected ourselves, our family, our friends, co-workers, and even interaction with strangers we pass while on our day to day activities. Whether it be the busy mother you see wrestling to keep her children in line at the local Stop and Shop on Jericho Turnpike across the street from our dealership, the kind employee who has informed you that toilet paper is indeed restocked on the shelves at Target in Commack, or even your thoughtful neighbor that had sent over a care package with farm fresh fall goodies from Kerber’s Farm in Huntington, you and the people around you are going through things that we can all relate to. That being said, now is the time when a supportive community is greatly important if not necessary to bring about the feeling that no one is alone in their struggle amidst this pandemic. The reason why so many towns in Suffolk County and Nassau County such as East Northport, Dix Hills, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington, Southampton, Melville, Smithtown, Plainview, Hempstead, Rockville Center, Massapequa, Franklin Square, and more are so loved by those living there is the close-knit community within each one. Since 1988, Alternatives for Children, a non-profit private school organization for children with special needs, has been contributing to this exact sense of community all over Long Island. Alternatives for Children has been a part of many families for so long, providing a nurturing environment for children and their individual needs, while catering to the needs of their families as well. This organization has been a place families have been able to turn to when everything seems to be falling apart. As any of us could understand, you want the best for our children or even if you don’t have children, for the children in the community around us. That exact vision of a welcoming place where those can turn to has truly been exemplified in all of the school locations in Aquebogue, East Setauket, Dix Hills, and Southampton. To help support their cause, Alternatives for Children has set up the Pop Up Party Pavillion, a Silent Auction to help fund the place that many have been able to come to in a time of need. In a time as important as now, it is so wonderful to show compassion and care by bidding or donating to such a wonderful cause. To take part in the auction you can head over to this link: https://cbo.io/bidapp/index.php?slug=alternatives. You can make a difference! Any little bit counts and is greatly appreciated by each and every single person within the organization, and what better way is there to pay it forward within your own community? Here is a brief word from our Dealership Principal, Jim Buzzetta on why Alternatives for Children is a great organization that the Competition Auto Group has decided to sponsor. Happy bidding!

How Should I Prepare My Mercedes-Benz for the Fall?

October is National Car Care Month, making this the perfect time to read up on how to best prepare your Mercedes-Benz for the coming fall months. Saying goodbye to the warm weather and wineries on the North Fork or even out East of the Island such as the Wölffer Estate Vineyard, Roanoke Vineyards, the Macari Vineyards, or even Del Vino Vineyards in Northport is hard, but Suffolk County and New York specifically, gets extremely cold in the fall and winter months, so making some changes in how you take care of your car is integral to it’s lifespan and overall the quality of how your car will drive under the harsh chilling conditions and circumstances. Here are some great points to keep in mind when taking care of your car from Mercedes-Benz of Huntington or anywhere else, this fall and winter. Check Your Tires. Whether you’re using Michelin, Goodyear, or even Pirelli, your tires play an obvious but important role for your car. They endure the hazards of the road to keep you on your way to wherever life takes you whether that be work, groceries at the King Kullen on New York Avenue, Stop & Shop in Huntington Village, IGA Supermarket in Fort Salonga, your doctor’s office in Greenlawn, or even the Brentwood Train Station. You can make sure your tires are kept in good condition by checking your tread and pressure about once a week. Although you may have some time before purchasing your winter tires from our Tire Store with our Parts Department, they still may be in need of replacement, especially since the constantly up-and-down weather in the fall causes tire pressures to drop and rise. If you can’t tell if your tires need replacing check out our other blog post “ How To Tell If You Need New Tires On Your Vehicle “ or bring your luxury sedan, SUV, coupe, or convertible into our Service Department to have them looked at by one of our knowledgeable Service Advisors. Check Your Fluids. With all the summer road tripping to the Catskills, Adirondacks, Hudson Valley, Bear Mountain, and even across the country driving to colleges, like the University of Albany, the University of Rhode Island, or even somewhere in Suffolk County such as Stony Brook University, your vehicle uses more of its resources than you may think. Be sure to check on your coolant, engine oil, power steering, wiper, brake, and transmission fluid. If they seem to be low, stop into our service drive, where you won’t even have to leave your car and your fluids can be topped off! Check Your Windshield Wipers and Your Lights. When the Cold Spring Harbor roads start getting colder, making them more icy and slippery, it’s imperative that you are able to see properly by having wipers that work, as well as that you are able to be seen by checking to see if your headlights and tail lamps are in working condition. Not only will the roads become more challenging to drive on, but it will also become darker sooner in the day in New York, an even bigger reason to make sure that both your lights and wipers are in good condition! Look Over Your Belts and Hoses. When you don’t regularly check your hoses and belts, it can lead to an unexpected high repair cost when you finally see a hose is too loose or a belt is far too damaged to drive your car. Catch them with some time to spare with regular inspections and have them replaced once they start showing signs of wear and tear. Inspect Your Brakes. While you should be checking your brakes year round, during the colder months is a time when driving with inadequate brake pads or rotors is especially risky. Brakes in bad condition can lead to danger on wet, icy, snow covered, or slushy roads in the winter. Have our Service Department take a look at the condition of your brakes before the cold approaches. You don’t want to be stranded on the side of Commack Road after a winter mishap, so its better to get your brake repair in Huntington before it's too late! Test Your Battery. Perhaps arguably one of the most important things you’ll want to check on is your battery. In the summer, the heat drains your battery, while the fall and winter chill kills them. The time in between fall to winter is the time when most people’s batteries end up needing to be replaced so be sure to have your battery tested for corrosion, starting and charging, having the fluids and charge checked, to be sure you don’t end up stranded with a dead battery! Although Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance is available to give you a jump start or assist you in getting a tow, or you can use our guide to jump start your vehicle, you can avoid the hassle of using your time by routinely checking and testing your battery. Since the fall time is the transition to winter, it is important that you check all these things now to keep you safe and comfortable in your car in the approaching cold winter weather. After all, you deserve “The Best Or Nothing” so why should your vehicle deserve any less? For any assistance needed to prepare, come into our Service Department, give them a call for any questions or needed repairs at (631)486-0165, or use our online scheduler to make sure you and your Mercedes-Benz are cold weather prepared!

Who is Lewis Hamilton, and Why Did He Get on TIME Magazine’s List of the 100 Most Influential People of 2020?

Lewis Hamilton is a name you have probably heard often this year, but who is the man behind the name? Lewis Hamilton is a six-time F1 World Champion British racing driver for the Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas Formula One Team. What is Formula One you may ask? For those that don’t know, Formula One (F1 for short) is an international auto racing sport. It is the highest league of international single-seater auto racing. F1 includes 10 different teams, Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, Renault F1 Team, Williams Racing, Haas F1 Team, Scuderia AlphaTauri, Sauber F1 Team, and Racing Point Force India F1. The Mercedes-Benz AMG team is based in the United Kingdom where Lewis Hamilton is from. Lewis Hamilton is 35 years old currently, but began his interest in racing since he was 6 years of age starting with remote controlled cars, and moving on to a go kart after being gifted one from his father for Christmas around the same time. Think about that the next time your son is begging for the tiny yet mighty Hot Wheels toy car at the Target in Huntington Station! Hamilton began karting in 1993 at the Rye House Kart Circuit and won many races there. When he was around 10, Hamilton approached McLaren Formula One team boss Ron Dennis for an autograph. This may seem like nothing integral, but the funny thing is that Hamilton introduced himself to Dennis and told him that he had won the British Championship and would one day like to race for the F1 McLaren Team. Dennis told him to phone him after nine years and they would see what would happen. Hamilton’s wish came true. After winning an additional Super One series and his second British Championship in 1998, Ron Dennis fulfilled his promise and contacted Hamilton to join the McLaren driver development programme. Hamilton became the youngest driver to secure a contract with the included option of a future Formula 1 seat in 2000, and he became the European Champion with maximum points. After time moving up through the ranks such as Manor Motorsport and then British Formula 3, with wins such as the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort, and fifteen out of twenty wins at the Euro Series champions ASM for the 2005 season, he then moved on to winning the GP2 championship at his first attempt beating competitors like Nelson Piquet Jr., and Timo Glock, and even winning at the notorious Nurburgring track as well. Hamilton was always succeeding despite his unusual circumstances in each race. McLaren took notice of his success and Hamilton was confirmed as the team’s second driver after Juan Pablo Montoya left to compete in NASCAR and Kimi Raikkonen to Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton was finally competing in the big leagues. Hamilton’s first season in F1 as a driver for McLaren in 2007 proved to be very successful. He set multiple records such as most consecutive podium finishes from debut, the joint most wins in a debut season, and the most points in a debut season. His successful first season allowed him to receive a multi-million pound contract to stay with McLaren until 2012. In 2008, Hamilton became the youngest F1 World Champion in history after winning in Brazil. The UK also hadn’t won a world championship since 1996 by Damon Hill. In 2011, Hamilton was loved by so many that he even played a cameo in Disney Pixar’s “ Cars 2” as an animated racecar. By the end of 2012, Hamilton had announced his move to join the Mercedes-Benz team to replace retired Michael Schumacher for the 2013 season. As we know, Hamilton has found great success with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team to this day. In his first season he won the Hungarian Grand Prix by 11 seconds. The start of the 2014 season began a new era of success for the young and ambitious driver. He won 11 races to receive his second driver’s championship preceding his third driver’s championship in 2015. Lewis Hamilton alongside childhood friend Nico Rosberg allowed Mercedes-Benz to achieve the F1 Contructor’s Championship. After winning yet two more driver’s championships in 2017 and 2018, Hamilton’s tally count was set at five. This is the second highest championship total in F1 history. In 2019, Hamilton conquered his sixth win, setting him on track to join Dale Earnheart Jr, Jimmie Johnson, and Richard Petty, and Michael Schumacher on 7 season titles, a magic number in racing according to NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace in his guest written excerpt on Lewis Hamilton. But can Lewis Hamilton beat Michael Schumacher and his record? Many believe so with his history of triumphs, but we will have to wait and see what the future holds in store for the enthusiastic racer. Wallace’s excerpt on Hamilton gives insight as to why Lewis Hamilton was included on TIME Magazine’s list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2020 along with the likes of athletes Naomi Osaka and Allyson Felix. According to Wallace, other than his success, Lewis’ example as the only black F1 driver inspires many people such as him, the only black driver in NASCAR’s top level, to keep pushing for representation and diversity, which makes it no wonder he was placed in the “Titans” category with icons such as NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and Sundar Pichai. Lewis has also been a major visual part of the Black Lives Matter Movement following the death of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and has been vocal about the subject on his social media accounts (@LewisHamilton on Instagram and Twitter),  and even at F1 events. Lewis’ feverish attitude towards bettering himself and educating others around him has led to his ultimate success as a racer and even just as a person. Additional Fun Facts: Why is Lewis Hamilton #44? : Lewis favors the number so much that he decides to use it instead of #1 like most people would want in the racing league on his car. Where is Lewis Hamilton’s parents from?: Lewis’ mother is white British, and his father identifies as black British. Both are from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. He identifies as black due to his mixed race. Where is Lewis Hamilton from Cars 2? : Lewis Hamilton is seen as the yellow and metallic black car representing Great Britain in the World Grand Prix. What’s Lewis Hamilton’s net worth?: Due to his massive success, he is worth a whopping $285 million. Hamilton truly exhibits “The Best or Nothing" Spirit, which is why he is so suited to race for Mercedes-Benz, and why those in Huntington, Commack, East Northport, Centerport, Brentwood, and surrounding areas love to come into our dealership and find out more about him from our knowledgeable staff, or even pick up pieces of Hamilton’s merchandise like T-Shirts or even decals for young ones from our Parts Boutique to appreciate his success. The 2021 S-Class Debut

Source: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/09/02/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-revealed/ After a long wait, the 2021 S-Class has finally been revealed to the world by Daimler. After being hidden in a camouflage wrap for an extended period of time, little was known about the new luxury car as mentioned in our previous blog post regarding the new car, but now the time has finally come for all Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts to see the brand new 2021 S-Class that will serve as flagship for the company, and will set the precedent for future models to come. Be prepared to be amazed with the newly announced 2021 World Luxury Car of the Year according to the World Car Awards, the new technology is truly immaculate and never before seen. Performance According to Autoblog, two different engine options are available in the new 2021 S-Class depending on whether you purchase the S 500 4matic, or the S 580 4matic variant. The S 500 features the powerful 3.0L turbocharged inline six-engine, creating 429 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque with the EQ boost system. On the other hand, the S 580 includes the almighty 4.0 turbocharged twin turbo V8 engine, generating up to 496 horsepower and 516 pound feet of torque. Both the S 500 and S580 will feature a 48 V electrical architecture and a 9-speed automatic transmission for shifting, making the 2021 S-Class even more powerful than it’s predecessors, allowing you to tear through the streets of Huntington limitlessly while also upkeeping the highest degree of luxury. The air suspension will stay standard in the S-Class but the E-Active Body Control feature seen previously in the GLE and GLS, will be the real catcher of attention. This feature individually regulates the damping and spring forces at each wheel. The 4 wheel steering system that will be included makes the new flagship vehicle more agile on long bending roads like ones you may regularly drive on in Cold Spring Harbor by cutting down on the vehicle’s turn radius. Both the S 500 and S 580 variants may have slight differences but both will feature all-wheel drive excitingly. Source: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/09/02/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-revealed/#slide-2260765 Exterior Now let’s get to the good stuff. After all the patience it required seeing the S-Class under camouflage, everyone is just buzzing to know what the exterior of the 2021 S-Class will look like, and how it might differ from previous models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. From a first glance, the 2021 model follows the design of a traditional large sedan, but upon a better look, you’ll notice that this S-Class is completely reimagined from anything you may have seen before in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. First off, the car is larger. It’s measurements are 208.2 inches long, 76.9 inches wide, and 69.2 inches tall. This creates a difference in size of 1.3 inches, 2.1 inches, and 0.4 inches respectively. Other than size, the grill seems to have changed shape slightly too, to fit the overall new proportions of the car, and create a better balance. The headlights have also changed, now featuring a three-dot LED running light program, while the orientation of the rear tail lamps go from vertical to horizontal, and the new triangular shape of them help them wrap around the edge of the rear bumper more seamlessly. The rear marker lights have moved down in a similar fashion, to help show off the new slightly wider exhaust tips. The wheelbase is also 2.0 inches longer resulting in more beautiful, shorter overhangs. Wheels are available from 19” sizes to a whopping 21” option with the available AMG package. Source: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/pictures/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-sedan/33/ Mercedes-Benz has kept aesthetic in mind when making every choice in regards to the appearance of the new S-Class, but they did not forget to think of how the exterior may affect the aerodynamic specifications of the car. The door handles are now flushly mounted to the body of the car and electrically powered, which is new for the German company. Since they are electrically powered, they fully emerge when sensing the user’s hand reaching out to open and enter the vehicle. The door handles being flush to the car improves aerodynamics by bringing the coefficient drag to about 0.22, making the new S-Class one of the most aerodynamic cars in the world. Source: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/pictures/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-sedan/30/ Interior S-Classes are prized most for their interiors and the various available features in them that cater to your every beck and call. This makes the following statement hard to believe with such a reputation, but the 2021 S-Class interior includes more than we have even been able to digest. Design Boss Gorden Wagener has even referred to the vehicle as “ The digital S-Class” . The innovation in this model is actually so advanced that it will set the precedent for future lesser Mercedes-Benz models in the future. The cabin of the sedan is luxurious and almost lounge-like with the usual options of Open-Pore wood, Brushed Metals, Illuminated Seat Belt Buckles, Pinstripe Designs, Piano Trim, and ofcourse the signature S-Class Contrasting Leather with Quilted Stitching. The amount of physical buttons have dramatically decreased due to the new massive 12.8 inch touchscreen featuring HVAC controls. Beautiful yet subtle air vents are seen going through the center of the screen while vertical vents line the dashboard. Speaking of the vents, the 2021 model will have a faster warm up time than ever before due to the booster heater powered by the car’s 48V system. Phones and other small items also have a space behind the screen, while the center console features ample amount of space for whatever else you may need to stow away. There is a new fragrance system too, with scents such as “Bamboo Mood” and “Cotton Mood” so that you can relax when you encounter any pollution when getting closer to New York City. The Digital Instrument Cluster has been advanced as well, featuring a 3D effect included in the 3D Technology Package that allows you to see in a new dimension without even having to go to the AMC movie theater in Commack. This effect can be shut off as well if desired by the driver or passenger. Navigation in East Northport is now even easier; Head Up Display can now project Augmented Reality onto the road in front of you. For example, if you need to make a right onto Elwood Road in 50ft on your way to  Greenlawn, the system will project an arrow onto the road prompting you to take a right. This helps you not miss a single turn on any adventure that you may take your S-Class on in Long Island. When you may be taking a longer ride, the 2021 S-Class will also feature Energizing Seat Kinetics in both the front and rear seats. This function energizes passengers with a combination of different massage options, sights on the large touchscreen and instrument cluster, ambient lighting options, and even smells that get released from the car as well, helping you stay awake and more alert on your journey. Without the Energizing Seat Kinetics feature turned on, you still have Heated Seats, Steering Wheel, and armrest options available, so that you can stay toasty and warm on those cold Dix Hills mornings. The sunroof is even able to open or close with the wave of your hand, making the S-Class so purely effortless. Source: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/pictures/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-sedan/30/ We all know that the backseat of an S-Class is just as luxurious as the front. Safety is taken into consideration with new rear seat frontal airbags. With more legroom and even a touch more recline possible, you’ll be more comfortable than ever before. It doesn’t end there, the headrests even have heated cushions that we can imagine would be so wonderful for those long days when your neck just won’t stop hurting. On days such as those, you can drift away and truly immerse yourself into the luxury of the car with the new and optional Burmester 4D Surround Sound System. This system will include 8 resonators and 30 different speakers with metal back lit speaker covers on doors and pillars, one being near the driver’s ear to isolate certain infotainment sounds or navigation directions to improve sound quality. Users can create different sound profiles to customize the sound to their own preference, making the experience special to each person. What makes this a “4D” system though, is the fact that you will be able to feel the music through your seats, an option that can be turned off ofcourse. With the Executive Package in the S580, the backseat of the new luxury car can also have up to three screens equipped with the MBUX infotainment system, two 11.6inch touchscreens on the back of each of the front seats, and one 7inch tablet in the center fold-down armrest with Android technology and even a pair of wireless headphones. The MBUX system on both the front and back tablets is exquisitely unique to Mercedes-Benz. Source: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/pictures/2021-mercedes-benz-s-class-sedan/65/ Users will be able to create 7 different profiles for different configurations/preferences such as seat settings, radio presets, speaker settings, addresses, 27 different languages, and more. The system authenticates and recognizes each profile by using voice or facial recognition, fingerprint, or even a PIN. MBUX will also allow you to make commands without saying “ Hey Mercedes” such as “Accept call” or “Decline call”. Not only can you make commands but the new “Chit Chat” feature will allow for more casual and random conversation, similar to Siri on Apple products. If you thought the new futuristic S-Class couldn’t make life any more convenient, you will stand corrected (don’t worry, we were caught off-guard too). The system will also include Toll Transponder Integration. All users have to do is put the physical reader (EZ Pass and etc.)  into the glovebox and the MBUX system system will read it and be able to translate to sensors. All of this plus a 50% faster processing power, and you have a system that rivals the most advanced technology of recent car releases. Driver Assistance The 2021 S-Class will feature an array of different driver assistance programs such as Improved Lane Centering. The unique feature can now follow the road edge instead of just road lines to help you stay centered when driving down the roads of Centerport. Active Steering Assist has also been improved, going up to 130 mph. Adaptive Cruise Control now has an emerging stop maneuver from speeds to up to 80 mph from the previous limit of 35mph. Call that a leap! The S-Class will also feature Predictive Speed regulation while advancements in Blind Spot Assist are showcased with a driver-facing camera that is now implemented in the vehicle. The camera senses and uses intuition when the driver is making specific movements. For example, if you are opening your door to get out into the Walt Whitman Mall, or busy Huntington Village parking lot for the lively nightlife, your car will follow your movements such as your eyes/arms, and body shifting towards the direction of the door, and will activate your Blind Spot Assist warning sooner than usual due to your movements that have been registered. Your S-Class will now not only use your Ambient Lighting feature to beautifully illuminate your cabin in 64 different colors, but it will also use those same lights (now with more LEDs) to be an integral tool in your safety by using warning colors to flash when you’re getting too close to any obstacle. This feature can assist you when using your Active Parking Assist feature with the included 360 degree camera, or even automatic perpendicular and parallel parking. The touch sensitive steering wheel makes using all these additional features even more convenient, because after all, what is the S-Class if not to make your life more convenient, comfortable, stylish, and luxurious? Whether you choose the S 500 or the S 580 in the first half of 2021, with any type of package, you will experience the epitome of luxury that Mercedes-Benz has spent so much time perfecting and executing in the 2021 model of the S-Class. You won’t want to miss the car that will be the start of it all for years to come. To not miss out on a single bit of the 2021 S-Class be sure to keep up with Mercedes-Benz of Huntington on our website MBHuntington.com, our Instagram, or even our LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook where our friendly and excited staff will keep everyone updated with all the news of Mercedes-Benz. What Does This Warning Light Mean On My Mercedes-Benz?

We’ve all been there. Driving, running errands, whether it be shopping at the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington, or shopping for groceries at Whole Foods in Commack, when suddenly our dashboard illustrates a warning light. Fifty percent of people either ignore said warning light to worry about it at a later time, while the other fifty percent of people rush to their web browser on their IPhone or Android to find out what could possibly have gone amiss in their GLA 250, C 300, or even their E 350. If you are one of the latter fifty percent of people, you are in luck! We’re here to mitigate your curiosity. Tire Pressure Light In the case that this light appears on your dashboard, it simply means that one (or multiple) of your tires has low pressure. On newer cars in the fleet, your dash can even tell you what tire pressure each of your tires is currently at, helping you find out exactly which one needs more air. Gas Light When this warning light appears, it means that your vehicle’s gas/fuel level is getting low. The great thing for those that have the “Hey Mercedes” feature, is that you can ask her to take you to the nearest gas station, or even a gas station on your way home. For example, you can say “Hey Mercedes, take me to the nearest Commack gas station.” and she will figure out which is closest to you! Check Engine Light Some may call it a submarine, but this is indeed a check engine light. This could be a problem with your engine system, the exhaust, the fuel injection system, or even the ignition system. When this light comes on, you should take your vehicle into our Service Department in the Dix Hills vicinity to get looked at. Seat Belt Indicator This one is one of the easier signs to recognize, you may have even seen it this morning when you accidentally forgot to put your seatbelt on while rushing to get to your doctor’s appointment in East Northport! Simply putting your (and your passenger’s) seat belt on gets rid of this light. Battery Light This light means that the battery is not being charged, or that it has lost its charge in your vehicle. You may require a jump or even to replace the battery. Have one of our staff members from the Service Department help you with a Diagnosis to see what is needed. Airbag Light The airbag light means that your SRS system may have a fault. This SRS malfunction could result in your airbag not being deployed in case of any accident or emergency. It is recommended that you see Service to prevent any danger that could result from not having a functional airbag. Brake Wear The brake light means that either your brake rotors or pads have been worn, and are in need of replacing. Parking Brake Light The parking brake light is as easy as it sounds, your parking brake is in place. Many of those that live in the sloped areas of Cold Spring Harbor leave this on accidentally when parking in the street. If driving, release the parking brake so as to not damage your vehicle. Coolant Light This light could mean that either your vehicle’s coolant level is low, or that there could be an issue with the coolant system. ABS Light The ABS Light signifies that your ABS brake system may have a malfunction. You will still be able to start and stop but extra functions may be limited such as, Electronic Stability Program, Brake Assist, and Anti-Locking, on your brakes. ESP/ESC Light Electronic Stability Program / Electronic Stability Control functions are limited, meaning that when making turns, skidding on slippery surfaces, or braking, you do not have the extra stability the ESP program provides. These warning lights are the most common that appear on dashboards for Centerport, Greenlawn, Northport, and surrounding areas’ driver's vehicles. Should you have any more questions, concerns, trouble setting up an appointment for your vehicle’s concern , or even if you see a light that doesn’t appear on this list, feel free to contact our Service Department to have someone assist you with your apprehension.

What Is The Difference Between KEYLESS START® and KEYLESS GO®?

Mercedes-Benz has always had the reputation of having the most advanced and convenient technologies in their vehicles to make life a whole lot easier. KEYLESS START ® and KEYLESS GO ® are no stranger to that concept. Both are technologies that Mercedes-Benz uses to give you an easier way to stop, start, lock, and unlock your vehicle, but what is the difference between the two? KEYLESS START® KEYLESS START ® is the predecessor of KEYLESS GO ®. Standard in most Mercedes-Benz vehicles, this feature allows you to start your car by stepping on the brake and pressing the Start/Stop button close to your steering wheel. Hands full after shopping at the Walt Whitman Mall, or even the Elwood Shopping Center? Well, Huntington drivers have no need to fumble around their purse or pocket, no key is required to start the car. KEYLESS GO® KEYLESS GO® is the more advanced and upgraded KEYLESS START ®. This feature allows East Northport users to enter their car or even lock their car by sensing the Smartkey in the vicinity of the vehicle. All it takes is a simple touch to the door handle for it to unlock, or for drivers to walk away from their vehicle for it to lock. Drivers can also choose to press the sensor button on the door handle when exiting the car to lock it, or hold the button if the windows or sunroof are left open, and the vehicle will close them. Similar to KEYLESS START ®, drivers can step on the brake while holding the Start/Stop button to start their vehicle, or similarly, turn it off. Mercedes-Benz has also implemented a helpful feature for when your key fob battery dies, a removable push start button that users are able to insert their key into so they can still use their vehicle. Pressing the Start/Stop button once will turn on your vehicle’s accessories like the radio, while pushing a second time will turn on your electrical items, and pushing a third time with your foot off of the brake will turn everything off. How Do I Know if My Mercedes-Benz Has KEYLESS GO® or KEYLESS START®? At our dealership located near Fort Salonga, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington, Commack, and Dix Hills, KEYLESS START ® is standard throughout most of our Mercedes-Benz lineup. If you are interested in accessing or even inquiring about KEYLESS GO ® or other accessories like Ambient Lighting, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist, and PRESAFE ®, get in touch with Mercedes-Benz of Huntington and our team will be able to assist you by finding these features in a car in our dealership, giving you more knowledge about each feature, or even by letting you see these features for yourself on a test drive in one of our new 2021 GLE’s, GLB’s, C300’S, or even a Preowned vehicle that you may have your eye on! Don’t forget to follow our Instagram or stay updated with our blog for more information on high-tech features you may find in your Mercedes-Benz.

Sir Stirling Moss, The Uncrowned King

If you know anything about racing, chances are you’ve heard the name Sir Stirling Moss more than just a couple of times, but who is he really? The late Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss was one of the greatest British Formula One race drivers of all time, even though he had never won the World Championship. Winning 212 out of his 529 races, including 16 Grand Prix victories, it’s no wonder that he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. Moss’s interest in racing began when he was a young boy in London. Being born on September 17th, 1929, he was too young to enlist in World War II, but he was at the optimal age to participate in the renaissance of British race car driving. Racing seemed to run in the family, as Alfred, Moss’s father also raced cars as a hobby and even placed 14th at the Indianapolis 500. His mother Aileen on the other hand, did not seem to share the same interest in racing cars. Alfred’s career as a dentist left the family well-off, making them able to support young Moss’s need for speed. As a little boy, his father’s BMW 328 sports car was the car that started The Moss legacy. He would enter any race that he possibly could with his father’s car, and would later upgrade to the first open-wheeled Cooper 500’s. Out of the 15 races he entered across Europe in his first year, he won 12 of them. These victories led him to join the H.W.M factory Formula 2 team, and he gained success almost instantly. After winning the 1949 and 1950 Formula 2 championships, he knew he had to hire a manager to help him control the success and opportunity he saw in the near future. Moss was irrepressible. Using past bullying to motivate him to be better, Moss did things that many would not dream of doing. Known to have raced in a Jaguar XK120 in torrential rainstorm while in Ireland, he was truly uncontrollable in doing whatever he pleased, and did it well. His appealing personality of being honorable, by vouching for his rival against disqualification of a race, charismatic, by inviting writers and reporters into his home, and daring, by racing in the most rough conditions, even earned him the title of Sports Personality of the Year in 1961. After spending some time in Formula 2, Moss quickly moved up the ranks to participate in Formula 1 by 1954. During that year, Moss became the first non-Americans to win the 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida by beating his bigger and faster opponents vehicle’s like Ferraris, Lancias, and Aston Martins. In 1955, Mercedes-Benz picked up Moss and debuted him as their newest racer at the Argentina Grand Prix that January. Moss won his first Formula 1 victory in the sixth race of that season. Mercedes-Benz picking up Sir Stirling Moss, quickly pushed him further and further into the spotlight. He was only 25 at the time of one of his most famous victories, the 1955 Mille Miglia. This race took place over 922 miles of Italian countryside, and Moss completed the race with co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a span of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds, with an average speed of 98.53 mph. What stood out about this particular race was the fact that Moss finished in first place 32 minutes ahead of his second place teammate Juan Manuel Fangio. This race was so legendary that Mercedes-Benz created the SLR McLaren 722 in homage to Sir Stirling Moss, and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR that he drove during the race. The 722 in the nameplate signifies the starting number of Moss and Jenkinson, indicating a start time of 7:22AM. To this day, only 150 units of that model were created all over the world, with only 25 in North America. Each is valued to be over $1million. Those that work at our Huntington dealership or follow our Instagram, were lucky enough to see one of these breathtaking cars come into our Service Department today! It was without a doubt, a once in a lifetime experience. Another prominent win for Moss would be his triumph in the 1957 British Grand Prix at Aintree. This historic achievement led to him and Tony Brooks to become the first British drivers to win a round of the world championship series in a British car. After a series of unfortunate accidents, Moss effectively retired in 1961, but still made appearances at events, and would occasionally race, officially retiring at 81. Over the span of his career he had won 16 Grand Prix races, competed in 529 races and won 212 of them, an outstanding 40% success rate. Despite all his success, circumstances usually seemed to get in the way of Moss and a world championship, resulting in him being called “The Uncrowned King” by Formula 1. For Moss though, a crown was never needed as he continues to have a legacy to this day and continues to inspire many, after unfortunately passing away this April at 90 years old due to illness. His character precisely exemplified what it means to Mercedes-Benz to be “The Best or Nothing”. Still curious to know more about the great Sir Stirling Moss? Come into Mercedes-Benz of Huntington to have the history of his career and his integral part of the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team explained to you by our knowledgeable staff.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee When it comes to rugged good looks and excellent performance, there are few cars that can beat the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE. This is an SUV that offers unrivaled ride quality in complete luxury. Despite the excellent styling, the 2020 GLE is also superbly functional and comes with generous trunk space. The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee builds on its legacy of ruggedness and reliability. While the 2020 Grand Cherokee will get you anywhere you want to go, some of the lower trims are markedly uncomfortable. Standard tech features are sparse unless you go for the pricier models. Here is how these two SUVs compare against each other. Design & Styles When it comes to styling, the 2020 GLE leads by a wide stretch. Its curved front section and aggressive stance make this SUV a head-turner anywhere you go. The interior is also amazingly done with soft upholstery and ergonomic design. Space for passengers and cargo is ample making the 2020 GLE a very practical ride as well. With a leaning towards ruggedness and functionality, the 2020 Grand Cherokee has seen very little change in its basic design. The car designers opted to keep the boxy shape which though attractive, appears a bit dated when compared to other SUVs in its category. The interior is also a little spartan and many of the features that come as standard in other models are options here. Technology & Safety As one would expect from a Mercedes-Benz SUV, the 2020 GLE comes with a broad variety of tech even in the base model. These tech features include a 12.5-inch infotainment control display that accepts both voice commands as well as touch input. The 2020 GLE also offers smartphone integration among many other features. When it comes to the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, buyers can expect a 5-inch infotainment screen that is operated through Jeep’s Uconnect software. While reasonably responsive, this tiny display is unlikely to satisfy many buyers in the luxury SUV market. Better tech options are available but you have to pay more to get them. Performance The 2020 GLE comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates about 255 horsepower. The 2020 GLE handles superbly and offers an excellent ride quality. Body roll is limited and the cabin is quiet even at high revs. Given the 2020 GLE is designed to go off-road, it has an excellent suspension that ensures that most surface imperfections never make it into the cabin. When it comes to the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, buyers get a range of engine options to choose from. The base model comes with a V6 engine that ensures that the 2020 Grand Cherokee has excellent driving and towing power. Ride quality however is not good at all especially because the suspension does not go a good job of keeping road imperfections out of the cabin. The Bottom Line The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE and the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee have a lot to offer. They both are excellent off-roaders with good engine performance. However, the 2020 GLE edges out the Grand Cherokee when it comes to sheer ride quality, tech features and styling. This makes the 2020 GLE the clear winner when compared to the 2020 Grand Cherokee. 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 2020 Honda CR-V 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2020 Honda CR-V The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC is a superb car in all ways. Form the sporty styling to the plush interior, you are assured that you will enjoy every ride in the 2020 GLC. A spacious trunk further enhances the functionality of this SUV. For people looking for a practical SUV that offers a thrilling ride, the 2020 GLC will tick all these boxes. The 2020 Honda CR-V is the latest in the long line of highly reliable SUVs. The 2020 version is newly styled and offers some great features. While practical and comfortable, the 2020 CR-V has lackluster performance meaning that car enthusiasts will likely be disappointed in this car. Design & Styles When it comes to styling, it is hard to beat the 2020 GLC. With its beautifully tapered roofline and sleek contours, the 2020 GLC looks great on any parking lot. The interior is fantastic as well and full of premium materials. Everything is designed to be where you would expect it to be. Legroom is ample and cabin lighting is adequate. With the 2020 Honda CR-V, you get a well-styled SUV that sports a much better exterior design than the previous box-shaped models. The 2020 CR-V offers a comfortable cabin as well. It cannot be described as luxurious but it is adequate for most people looking for a functional SUV. Technology & Safety When you purchase a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC, you get a host of tech and safety features as standard. The car comes with a 10-inch infotainment screen that is among the biggest among SUVs in this category. Also, standard is a wireless charging system as well as a great audio system. You also have the option of numerous upgrades to select from. With the 2020 Honda CR-V, most of the exciting tech features come as upgrades instead of standard. This is rather disappointing but the 2020 CR-V is primarily designed for functionality. Standard tech features that come in the 2020 Honda CR-V include a five-inch-screen radio system. Anything else above this is available as an upgrade. Performance Under the hood, the 2020 GLC is powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates about 255 horsepower. This translates to lots of power and allows the 2020 GLC to handle almost any kind of task with ease. This includes towing functions among others. Under the hood, the 2020 Honda CR-V sports a 1.5-liter engine that is connected to a CVT transmission. While this engine is adequate for most functions, anything above the basics has the 2020 CR-V struggling. For example, the 2020 CR-V has terrible towing capacity and struggles when one floors the gas pedal. Handling is not up to par either and most discerning drivers would be dissatisfied with this kind of performance. The Bottom Line When one compares the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC with the 2020 Honda CR-V, there is one clear winner. The 2020 GLC outdoes the 2020 CR-V in almost all the categories. The 2020 GLC is faster, more powerful, offers better ride quality and is much more luxurious. For all these reasons, the 2020 GLC wins this comparison. 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2020 Cadillac XT5

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 2020 Cadillac XT5 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2020 Cadillac XT5 There is a reason why the Mercedes-Benz GLC is the company’s best-selling model. The 2020 model of the GLC reminds you why this SUV is so popular as it combines versatility with luxury. With ample cabin space and creature-comforts in the cabin, it is difficult to find anything close to the 2020 GLC among other cars in this category. When it comes to the 2020 Cadillac XT5, you get a spacious SUV that can comfortably handle most day-to-day functions. However, the cabin does not feel premium at all and performance is terrible. This means that the 2020 XT5 will struggle to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLC or almost all the other cars in the luxury SUV category. Design & Styles The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC combines great exterior styling with a plush cabin that offers generous leg and headroom. This luxury SUV is designed to stand out on any driveway and it accomplishes this with ease. Inside, the dashboard is intuitively designed and everything is placed within reach. When it comes to the 2020 Cadillac XT5, the car has had some upgrades going into 2020. These include a slightly sportier grille as well as sharper contours on the body. Nothing much has changed inside the cabin and although roomy, it is not particularly charming. Technology & Safety The 2020 GLC offers a host of tech and safety features as standard. These include a 10-inch infotainment display that is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX software. The system is very responsive and easy to use. Other tech features that come as standard in the 2020 GLC include a wireless charging pad as well as a top-quality audio system. Despite its other shortcomings, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 manages to offer a decent amount of tech features. These include smartphone integration for Apple and Android phones. Infotainment is controlled via an 8-inch display that can be a little hard to operate. Performance When it comes to what is under the hood, the 2020 GLC is powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that turns out 255 horsepower. Fuel-conscious buyers can opt for the hybrid version which performs just as well. Handling in the 2020 GLC is superb and this SUV turns every ride into a thrill. A finely tuned suspension also ensures that the ride quality is superb. When it comes to engine performance and ride quality, the 2020 XT5 struggles to match the 2020 GLC. Although the 2020 XT5 is powered by a similar four-cylinder turbocharged engine, it is rather sluggish especially when pushed hard. The suspension is also not as refined as the one in the 2020 GLC and road imperfections can be felt in the cabin. The Bottom Line While the 2020 Cadillac XT5 is positioned as a luxury SUV, it lacks many of the traits that other cars in this category have. When compared to the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC, it falls woefully short. From engine performance to cabin design, the 2020 GLC is a much better vehicle.
