Although new to the Electric Vehicle scene, the Mercedes-Benz 2022 EQS has exceeded many drivers across the world’s expectations by going above and beyond what is considered the norm for many EV’s that have been coming to the market as of recently. This was reported by The Driven in one of their latest auto blogs, "Better Than Tesla": New Mercedes-Benz Electric EQS Ranked "Best EV in World". The German magazine company noted various aspects of the EQS, beginning with the intelligent electric route planning implemented in the vehicle, due to the fact that many electric cars still have not put this amenity into their navigation systems. Another aspect includes the quiet car’s record for the lowest aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.20, making the 2022 EQS “at least two dimensions above a Tesla Model S” according to the review. Among many other points, Auto Motor und Sport lastly mentions the electric vehicle’s outstanding efficiency. A range of 300km can easily be charged in 15 minutes according to their experience, beating the Tesla Model S in terms of range and efficiency. All in all, with the amazing technology such as the Hyperscreen, the sleek design, efficiency, and more, the German magazine concluded the EQS is “the really best electric car in the world!” as read through a quick Google Translate. According to them, “The engineers have given everything to be as comfortable, economical, efficient and contemporary as possible”. When asked “Does that mean that electric pioneer Tesla is beaten? “ they responded with “Simple answer: yes. That is exactly the direction in which electro-mobility must go”. Today is Earth Day worldwide, so there is no better time than today to discuss what makes Mercedes-Benz an eco-conscious company with sustainability processes that we can be proud of because lets be honest, it’s 2021. Every single action counts right now whether it’s using a reusable grocery bag at the Whole Foods in Commack, to carpooling with a friend to our Huntington dealership! Electrically Powered Vehicles: The EQ Lineup First up in the plethora of actions that the German luxury vehicle company has taken, we have the Mercedes-EQ lineup: luxurious electric vehicles that are powered by a Lithium-ion battery. Electrically powered vehicles are the next wave in terms of cars that Long Island drivers, and people worldwide will be driving due to the fact that they reduce emissions and greenhouse gases that contribute to both climate change and smog. As we have just seen in the premiere of the Mercedes-Benz 2022 EQS, the EQ lineup represents the future of the automobile world with features such as Plug-In Charging, visionary technology exemplified by the Hyperscreen, elegant yet modern styling, while also retaining peak performance. Not only are they against deforestation, but they demand that their suppliers must be as well by making it a requirement in the supplier contract. The clause states that any materials processed come from areas outside of Amazônia, Cerrado, Pantanal, Gran Chaco, Mata Atlântica and Chocó-Darién. Suppliers are also required to comply with standards in areas such as working conditions, human rights, environmental protection, safety, business ethics and compliance. Mercedes-Benz also uses diverse leather substitutes such as DINAMICA, made of recycled polyester and water-based polyurethane, recycled Econyl fiber, made from yarns created with recycled carpets and old fishing nets fished from the oceans. CO₂-Free Electricity from 2022 Onwards Mercedes-Benz is taking a unique approach to green power concepts by collaborating with energy suppliers Enovos and the Norwegian energy producer, Statkraft. Germany houses the most power plants in which CO₂-free energy is generated using solar, wind and hydro sources. In a claim made on the Daimler website, the company states that from 2022 onwards, Mercedes-Benz will be purchasing electricity in Germany which comes exclusively from these said plants using renewable resources, with a new green power supply contract. These are just a couple examples on the long list of actions that Mercedes-Benz has taken to create a more livable future, that puts the state of our Earth into consideration. More examples include: A push towards CO₂ neutrality with the project Ambition 2039. A creation of a Supplier Ambition Rating for Sustainable Supply Chains. Using waste to create useful materials. The Blockchain Pilot Project: A project for transparency on C02 emissions of climate-relevant gases as well as the amount of secondary material along the complex supply chains of battery cell manufacturers. All of the various projects that Mercedes-Benz immerses themselves with goes to show that the brand is one for the people. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is by far one of the most popular cars in the German company’s lineup. Drivers all over Long Island, New York, and even worldwide love driving the classic sedan to Robert Moses Beach, the Hamptons, a quick ride on the Northern State Parkway, or even into New York City due to it’s convenient size, adaptable design, ample trunk space, safety features, powerful engine, and ever upgrading technology that comes with the MBUX system. An 11.9 inch touchscreen has been placed in the center of the dashboard, with three square-like air vents that have been put above. The controller knob/ touchpad has been removed for a cleaner look, while the MBUX infotainment system with an increased processing power provides top of the line technology. The vehicle even has a fingerprint scanner for logging into different user profiles. Heated Front Seats, a sunroof, and smartphone integration such as Apple Carplay and Android Auto are included in the stunning vehicle. As usual, the new C-Class is not lacking in power. The 2022 C 300 includes a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that creates 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, giving you the thrill and power you love, to take this sedan for a spin on the Long Island Expressway, while still being practical enough to use on a day to day basis to take you to work in Greenlawn, the kids to soccer practice in Commack, or the best brunch in Huntington Village, Suffolk County. October is National Car Care Month, making this the perfect time to read up on how to best prepare your Mercedes-Benz for the coming fall months. Saying goodbye to the warm weather and wineries on the North Fork or even out East of the Island such as the Wölffer Estate Vineyard, Roanoke Vineyards, the Macari Vineyards, or even Del Vino Vineyards in Northport is hard, but Suffolk County and New York specifically, gets extremely cold in the fall and winter months, so making some changes in how you take care of your car is integral to it’s lifespan and overall the quality of how your car will drive under the harsh chilling conditions and circumstances. Here are some great points to keep in mind when taking care of your car from Mercedes-Benz of Huntington or anywhere else, this fall and winter. Check Your Tires. Whether you’re using Michelin, Goodyear, or even Pirelli, your tires play an obvious but important role for your car. They endure the hazards of the road to keep you on your way to wherever life takes you whether that be work, groceries at the King Kullen on New York Avenue, Stop & Shop in Huntington Village, IGA Supermarket in Fort Salonga, your doctor’s office in Greenlawn, or even the Brentwood Train Station. With all the summer road tripping to the Catskills, Adirondacks, Hudson Valley, Bear Mountain, and even across the country driving to colleges, like the University of Albany, the University of Rhode Island, or even somewhere in Suffolk County such as Stony Brook University, your vehicle uses more of its resources than you may think. Be sure to check on your coolant, engine oil, power steering, wiper, brake, and transmission fluid. If they seem to be low, stop into our service drive, where you won’t even have to leave your car and your fluids can be topped off! Check Your Windshield Wipers and Your Lights. When the Cold Spring Harbor roads start getting colder, making them more icy and slippery, it’s imperative that you are able to see properly by having wipers that work, as well as that you are able to be seen by checking to see if your headlights and tail lamps are in working condition. Not only will the roads become more challenging to drive on, but it will also become darker sooner in the day in New York, an even bigger reason to make sure that both your lights and wipers are in good condition! Look Over Your Belts and Hoses. When you don’t regularly check your hoses and belts, it can lead to an unexpected high repair cost when you finally see a hose is too loose or a belt is far too damaged to drive your car. Catch them with some time to spare with regular inspections and have them replaced once they start showing signs of wear and tear. Inspect Your Brakes. While you should be checking your brakes year round, during the colder months is a time when driving with inadequate brake pads or rotors is especially risky. Brakes in bad condition can lead to danger on wet, icy, snow covered, or slushy roads in the winter. You don’t want to be stranded on the side of Commack Road after a winter mishap, so its better to get your brake repair in Huntington before it's too late! Test Your Battery. Perhaps arguably one of the most important things you’ll want to check on is your battery. In the summer, the heat drains your battery, while the fall and winter chill kills them. The time in between fall to winter is the time when most people’s batteries end up needing to be replaced so be sure to have your battery tested for corrosion, starting and charging, having the fluids and charge checked, to be sure you don’t end up stranded with a dead battery! Lewis Hamilton is a name you have probably heard often this year, but who is the man behind the name? Lewis Hamilton is a six-time F1 World Champion British racing driver for the Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas Formula One Team. What is Formula One you may ask? For those that don’t know, Formula One (F1 for short) is an international auto racing sport. It is the highest league of international single-seater auto racing. F1 includes 10 different teams, Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, Renault F1 Team, Williams Racing, Haas F1 Team, Scuderia AlphaTauri, Sauber F1 Team, and Racing Point Force India F1. The Mercedes-Benz AMG team is based in the United Kingdom where Lewis Hamilton is from. Lewis Hamilton is 35 years old currently, but began his interest in racing since he was 6 years of age starting with remote controlled cars, and moving on to a go kart after being gifted one from his father for Christmas around the same time. Think about that the next time your son is begging for the tiny yet mighty Hot Wheels toy car at the Target in Huntington Station! Hamilton began karting in 1993 at the Rye House Kart Circuit and won many races there. When he was around 10, Hamilton approached McLaren Formula One team boss Ron Dennis for an autograph. This may seem like nothing integral, but the funny thing is that Hamilton introduced himself to Dennis and told him that he had won the British Championship and would one day like to race for the F1 McLaren Team. Dennis told him to phone him after nine years and they would see what would happen. Hamilton’s wish came true. After winning an additional Super One series and his second British Championship in 1998, Ron Dennis fulfilled his promise and contacted Hamilton to join the McLaren driver development programme. Hamilton became the youngest driver to secure a contract with the included option of a future Formula 1 seat in 2000, and he became the European Champion with maximum points. After time moving up through the ranks such as Manor Motorsport and then British Formula 3, with wins such as the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort, and fifteen out of twenty wins at the Euro Series champions ASM for the 2005 season, he then moved on to winning the GP2 championship at his first attempt beating competitors like Nelson Piquet Jr., and Timo Glock, and even winning at the notorious Nurburgring track as well. Hamilton was always succeeding despite his unusual circumstances in each race. McLaren took notice of his success and Hamilton was confirmed as the team’s second driver after Juan Pablo Montoya left to compete in NASCAR and Kimi Raikkonen to Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton was finally competing in the big leagues. Hamilton’s first season in F1 as a driver for McLaren in 2007 proved to be very successful. He set multiple records such as most consecutive podium finishes from debut, the joint most wins in a debut season, and the most points in a debut season. His successful first season allowed him to receive a multi-million pound contract to stay with McLaren until 2012. In 2008, Hamilton became the youngest F1 World Champion in history after winning in Brazil. The UK also hadn’t won a world championship since 1996 by Damon Hill. In 2011, Hamilton was loved by so many that he even played a cameo in Disney Pixar’s “ Cars 2” as an animated racecar. By the end of 2012, Hamilton had announced his move to join the Mercedes-Benz team to replace retired Michael Schumacher for the 2013 season. As we know, Hamilton has found great success with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team to this day. In his first season he won the Hungarian Grand Prix by 11 seconds. The start of the 2014 season began a new era of success for the young and ambitious driver. He won 11 races to receive his second driver’s championship preceding his third driver’s championship in 2015. Lewis Hamilton alongside childhood friend Nico Rosberg allowed Mercedes-Benz to achieve the F1 Contructor’s Championship. After winning yet two more driver’s championships in 2017 and 2018, Hamilton’s tally count was set at five. This is the second highest championship total in F1 history. In 2019, Hamilton conquered his sixth win, setting him on track to join Dale Earnheart Jr, Jimmie Johnson, and Richard Petty, and Michael Schumacher on 7 season titles, a magic number in racing according to NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace in his guest written excerpt on Lewis Hamilton. After being hidden in a camouflage wrap for an extended period of time, little was known about the new luxury car as mentioned in our previous blog post regarding the new car, but now the time has finally come for all Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts to see the brand new 2021 S-Class that will serve as flagship for the company, and will set the precedent for future models to come. Be prepared to be amazed with the newly announced 2021 World Luxury Car of the Year according to the World Car Awards, the new technology is truly immaculate and never before seen. Performance According to Autoblog, two different engine options are available in the new 2021 S-Class depending on whether you purchase the S 500 4matic, or the S 580 4matic variant. The S 500 features the powerful 3.0L turbocharged inline six-engine, creating 429 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque with the EQ boost system. On the other hand, the S 580 includes the almighty 4.0 turbocharged twin turbo V8 engine, generating up to 496 horsepower and 516 pound feet of torque. Both the S 500 and S580 will feature a 48 V electrical architecture and a 9-speed automatic transmission for shifting, making the 2021 S-Class even more powerful than it’s predecessors, allowing you to tear through the streets of Huntington limitlessly while also upkeeping the highest degree of luxury. The air suspension will stay standard in the S-Class but the E-Active Body Control feature seen previously in the GLE and GLS, will be the real catcher of attention. This feature individually regulates the damping and spring forces at each wheel. After all the patience it required seeing the S-Class under camouflage, everyone is just buzzing to know what the exterior of the 2021 S-Class will look like, and how it might differ from previous models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. From a first glance, the 2021 model follows the design of a traditional large sedan, but upon a better look, you’ll notice that this S-Class is completely reimagined from anything you may have seen before in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. First off, the car is larger. It’s measurements are 208.2 inches long, 76.9 inches wide, and 69.2 inches tall. This creates a difference in size of 1.3 inches, 2.1 inches, and 0.4 inches respectively. Other than size, the grill seems to have changed shape slightly too, to fit the overall new proportions of the car, and create a better balance. The headlights have also changed, now featuring a three-dot LED running light program, while the orientation of the rear tail lamps go from vertical to horizontal, and the new triangular shape of them help them wrap around the edge of the rear bumper more seamlessly. The rear marker lights have moved down in a similar fashion, to help show off the new slightly wider exhaust tips. The door handles are now flushly mounted to the body of the car and electrically powered, which is new for the German company. Since they are electrically powered, they fully emerge when sensing the user’s hand reaching out to open and enter the vehicle. The door handles being flush to the car improves aerodynamics by bringing the coefficient drag to about 0.22, making the new S-Class one of the most aerodynamic cars in the world. This makes the following statement hard to believe with such a reputation, but the 2021 S-Class interior includes more than we have even been able to digest. Design Boss Gorden Wagener has even referred to the vehicle as “ The digital S-Class” . The innovation in this model is actually so advanced that it will set the precedent for future lesser Mercedes-Benz models in the future. The cabin of the sedan is luxurious and almost lounge-like with the usual options of Open-Pore wood, Brushed Metals, Illuminated Seat Belt Buckles, Pinstripe Designs, Piano Trim, and ofcourse the signature S-Class Contrasting Leather with Quilted Stitching. The amount of physical buttons have dramatically decreased due to the new massive 12.8 inch touchscreen featuring HVAC controls. Beautiful yet subtle air vents are seen going through the center of the screen while vertical vents line the dashboard. Speaking of the vents, the 2021 model will have a faster warm up time than ever before due to the booster heater powered by the car’s 48V system. Phones and other small items also have a space behind the screen, while the center console features ample amount of space for whatever else you may need to stow away. There is a new fragrance system too, with scents such as “Bamboo Mood” and “Cotton Mood” so that you can relax when you encounter any pollution when getting closer to New York City. The Digital Instrument Cluster has been advanced as well, featuring a 3D effect included in the 3D Technology Package that allows you to see in a new dimension without even having to go to the AMC movie theater in Commack. This effect can be shut off as well if desired by the driver or passenger. Navigation in East Northport is now even easier; Head Up Display can now project Augmented Reality onto the road in front of you. For example, if you need to make a right onto Elwood Road in 50ft on your way to  Greenlawn, the system will project an arrow onto the road prompting you to take a right. This helps you not miss a single turn on any adventure that you may take your S-Class on in Long Island. When you may be taking a longer ride, the 2021 S-Class will also feature Energizing Seat Kinetics in both the front and rear seats. This function energizes passengers with a combination of different massage options, sights on the large touchscreen and instrument cluster, ambient lighting options, and even smells that get released from the car as well, helping you stay awake and more alert on your journey. Without the Energizing Seat Kinetics feature turned on, you still have Heated Seats, Steering Wheel, and armrest options available, so that you can stay toasty and warm on those cold Dix Hills mornings. The sunroof is even able to open or close with the wave of your hand, making the S-Class so purely effortless. Safety is taken into consideration with new rear seat frontal airbags. With more legroom and even a touch more recline possible, you’ll be more comfortable than ever before. It doesn’t end there, the headrests even have heated cushions that we can imagine would be so wonderful for those long days when your neck just won’t stop hurting. On days such as those, you can drift away and truly immerse yourself into the luxury of the car with the new and optional Burmester 4D Surround Sound System. This system will include 8 resonators and 30 different speakers with metal back lit speaker covers on doors and pillars, one being near the driver’s ear to isolate certain infotainment sounds or navigation directions to improve sound quality. Users can create different sound profiles to customize the sound to their own preference, making the experience special to each person. What makes this a “4D” system though, is the fact that you will be able to feel the music through your seats, an option that can be turned off ofcourse. With the Executive Package in the S580, the backseat of the new luxury car can also have up to three screens equipped with the MBUX infotainment system, two 11.6inch touchscreens on the back of each of the front seats, and one 7inch tablet in the center fold-down armrest with Android technology and even a pair of wireless headphones. The MBUX system on both the front and back tablets is exquisitely unique to Mercedes-Benz. The system authenticates and recognizes each profile by using voice or facial recognition, fingerprint, or even a PIN. MBUX will also allow you to make commands without saying “ Hey Mercedes” such as “Accept call” or “Decline call”. Not only can you make commands but the new “Chit Chat” feature will allow for more casual and random conversation, similar to Siri on Apple products. If you thought the new futuristic S-Class couldn’t make life any more convenient, you will stand corrected (don’t worry, we were caught off-guard too). The system will also include Toll Transponder Integration. All users have to do is put the physical reader (EZ Pass and etc.)  into the glovebox and the MBUX system system will read it and be able to translate to sensors. All of this plus a 50% faster processing power, and you have a system that rivals the most advanced technology of recent car releases. Driver Assistance The 2021 S-Class will feature an array of different driver assistance programs such as Improved Lane Centering. The unique feature can now follow the road edge instead of just road lines to help you stay centered when driving down the roads of Centerport. Active Steering Assist has also been improved, going up to 130 mph. Adaptive Cruise Control now has an emerging stop maneuver from speeds to up to 80 mph from the previous limit of 35mph. Call that a leap! The S-Class will also feature Predictive Speed regulation while advancements in Blind Spot Assist are showcased with a driver-facing camera that is now implemented in the vehicle. The camera senses and uses intuition when the driver is making specific movements. For example, if you are opening your door to get out into the Walt Whitman Mall, or busy Huntington Village parking lot for the lively nightlife, your car will follow your movements such as your eyes/arms, and body shifting towards the direction of the door, and will activate your Blind Spot Assist warning sooner than usual due to your movements that have been registered. Your S-Class will now not only use your Ambient Lighting feature to beautifully illuminate your cabin in 64 different colors, but it will also use those same lights (now with more LEDs) to be an integral tool in your safety by using warning colors to flash when you’re getting too close to any obstacle. This feature can assist you when using your Active Parking Assist feature with the included 360 degree camera, or even automatic perpendicular and parallel parking. The touch sensitive steering wheel makes using all these additional features even more convenient, because after all, what is the S-Class if not to make your life more convenient, comfortable, stylish, and luxurious? If you know anything about racing, chances are you’ve heard the name Sir Stirling Moss more than just a couple of times, but who is he really? The late Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss was one of the greatest British Formula One race drivers of all time, even though he had never won the World Championship. Winning 212 out of his 529 races, including 16 Grand Prix victories, it’s no wonder that he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. Moss’s interest in racing began when he was a young boy in London. Being born on September 17th, 1929, he was too young to enlist in World War II, but he was at the optimal age to participate in the renaissance of British race car driving. Racing seemed to run in the family, as Alfred, Moss’s father also raced cars as a hobby and even placed 14th at the Indianapolis 500. His mother Aileen on the other hand, did not seem to share the same interest in racing cars. Alfred’s career as a dentist left the family well-off, making them able to support young Moss’s need for speed. As a little boy, his father’s BMW 328 sports car was the car that started The Moss legacy. He would enter any race that he possibly could with his father’s car, and would later upgrade to the first open-wheeled Cooper 500’s. Out of the 15 races he entered across Europe in his first year, he won 12 of them. These victories led him to join the H.W.M factory Formula 2 team, and he gained success almost instantly. After winning the 1949 and 1950 Formula 2 championships, he knew he had to hire a manager to help him control the success and opportunity he saw in the near future. Moss was irrepressible. Using past bullying to motivate him to be better, Moss did things that many would not dream of doing. Known to have raced in a Jaguar XK120 in torrential rainstorm while in Ireland, he was truly uncontrollable in doing whatever he pleased, and did it well. His appealing personality of being honorable, by vouching for his rival against disqualification of a race, charismatic, by inviting writers and reporters into his home, and daring, by racing in the most rough conditions, even earned him the title of Sports Personality of the Year in 1961. After spending some time in Formula 2, Moss quickly moved up the ranks to participate in Formula 1 by 1954. During that year, Moss became the first non-Americans to win the 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida by beating his bigger and faster opponents vehicle’s like Ferraris, Lancias, and Aston Martins. In 1955, Mercedes-Benz picked up Moss and debuted him as their newest racer at the Argentina Grand Prix that January. Moss won his first Formula 1 victory in the sixth race of that season. Mercedes-Benz picking up Sir Stirling Moss, quickly pushed him further and further into the spotlight. He was only 25 at the time of one of his most famous victories, the 1955 Mille Miglia. This race took place over 922 miles of Italian countryside, and Moss completed the race with co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a span of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds, with an average speed of 98.53 mph. What stood out about this particular race was the fact that Moss finished in first place 32 minutes ahead of his second place teammate Juan Manuel Fangio. This race was so legendary that Mercedes-Benz created the SLR McLaren 722 in homage to Sir Stirling Moss, and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR that he drove during the race. The 722 in the nameplate signifies the starting number of Moss and Jenkinson, indicating a start time of 7:22AM. To this day, only 150 units of that model were created all over the world, with only 25 in North America. Each is valued to be over $1million. Those that work at our Huntington dealership or follow our Instagram, were lucky enough to see one of these breathtaking cars come into our Service Department today! It was without a doubt, a once in a lifetime experience. Another prominent win for Moss would be his triumph in the 1957 British Grand Prix at Aintree. This historic achievement led to him and Tony Brooks to become the first British drivers to win a round of the world championship series in a British car. After a series of unfortunate accidents, Moss effectively retired in 1961, but still made appearances at events, and would occasionally race, officially retiring at 81. Over the span of his career he had won 16 Grand Prix races, competed in 529 races and won 212 of them, an outstanding 40% success rate. Despite all his success, circumstances usually seemed to get in the way of Moss and a world championship, resulting in him being called “The Uncrowned King” by Formula 1. For Moss though, a crown was never needed as he continues to have a legacy to this day and continues to inspire many, after unfortunately passing away this April at 90 years old due to illness. This is usually the case, but when it comes to the S-Class, it’s traditional body style still captures the interest of many. With many modern new features that showcase the innovation behind the Mercedes-Benz brand, the 2021 S-Class has set an example of what the future of the automotive industry will look like. Appearance *European vehicle image shown Although we have only seen the new S-Class under a camouflage wrap due to the car being officially released on September 2nd, we can still tell quite a bit about the new S-Class exterior. Akin to its predecessor that you may have seen in our showroom, the 2021 model has the same long-hood, and long-wheelbase shape. Although those proportions look very similar to the last, it looks like the front grille is even larger, as well as that the tail looks to have risen higher than before. The door handles are flush, and pop out electronically, similar to the Tesla Model S. With a more angular look, the aerodynamics of the vehicle have been slightly tweaked to create a more aerodynamically efficient sedan. More Than Just Looks Now that we know the exterior of the car is up to par with the S-Class standard, you may be wondering if this luxury car will be worth it past it’s appearances. The answer is definitely! S-Classes sold in the U.S will offer inline-six diesel engines, with an option to step up to a 4.0 liter, while the 2021 Maybach will have the all-powerful v12 engine which will be combined with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive for the first time in history. Not only do these cars have advanced engine systems, but the suspension has stepped up it’s game as well. Two different chassis systems will be offered, a single chamber air suspension system, as well as a “E-Active Body Control” option that helps the car lean into tighter areas such as corners. For when you find yourself in a tough spot when in the streets of Greenlawn, when your vehicle is equipped with the new all-wheel steering option that helps the car turn the rear wheels an incredible 10 degrees, the S-Class turning-circle diameter is drastically minimized by two-meters, creating an overall more versatile vehicle. Although those of us living in the United States may not see this as highly valued, those living in Europe find these features incredibly useful due to their crowded areas, and sometimes smaller roads. The great advantage of having this system regardless of your region, is that at higher speeds, the stability is increased by having the rear wheels slightly turn in the same angle/direction as the fronts. The moment you sit in the driver’s seat you’ll notice the steering wheel has changed with a new spherical center. Look beyond the steering wheel and you’ll notice the dashboard has been completely revamped with what looks to be up to five digital screens. An industry first, the augmented reality fitted head-up display will be sure to grab your attention if the 12.8 inch center console screen does not. The head-up display will have the usual information as well as over laying navigation queues such as arrows almost holographically into your field of vision, making it especially easy to get to any destination you may be travelling to around Huntington, Greenlawn, Commack, or even Fort Salonga. However, the innovation does not end there, the instrument cluster also features a unique three-dimensional view. This enhances readability as the system filters and prioritizes the most important information, and changes the screen accordingly. Not only does the system filter information for you, but it also monitors the driver’s eyes and adjusts the 3D effect to fit their vision. The system also recognizes when the driver is not using the 3D display, and reverts back to 2D so as to not be a distraction to driving. Is the New S-Class safe? Staying on brand with Mercedes-Benz, the car is incredibly safe. The 2021 luxury model will feature up to sixteen airbags, including airbags that extend from behind the front seat and can monitor when a child seat is in place as well as making it safer for those who are being chauffeured. The tubing structure inside of these airbags cushion the passengers head if they happen to lurch forward towards the back of the front seats. Other than the obvious use of airbags, the new futuristic sedan will also include a feature named Pre-Safe Impulse Side. This feature uses the radar system to detect when something will collide with the vehicle laterally, and will lift the car up three inches to cause more force to revert to the door frame instead of the actual door. Recently, Mercedes-Benz of Huntington received the newly redesigned GLA, which was featured on our Instagram. The new variant of the model instantly appears unique in comparison to the previous version, not only in its styling, but also its size. In fact, the new GLA is noticeably taller, towering above its predecessor. This increase in height offers much more headroom to its passengers as well as improved visibility. In addition, the new GLA also has a longer wheel base and more legroom in the rear. Other than its size, what other new features has Mercedes upgraded in the new GLA? The new 2021 GLA employs the new MBUX infotainment system which is also included in other new Mercedes models. This new MBUX system, explained in our last blog, also uses artificial intelligence to make the user experience even more intuitive. This system is displayed on a pair of 7 inch screens which replace the analog gauges and media. The screens are also available in a 10.25 inch option. On the road, MULTIBEAM LED headlights with individually controllable LEDs lead the way. The face-lifted GLA also improves upon safety and security features. These include sensors which indicate when it’s safe to change lanes as well as adaptive cruise control which can help steer for exits. The cellphone app “Mercedes me connect” enables users to remote-start, lock, and even book service appointments for your Mercedes. On the exterior, the new GLA is topped with a two-section panoramic roof, brightening the interior and offering maximum views. Meanwhile, under the hood, the GLA 250 is powered by a 2.0L 221 horsepower turbocharged engine with an 8-speed transmission, as opposed to the 7-speed on the previous version. With its higher seat position and more spacious interior, the GLA makes for a car that feels bigger, but still fits comfortably on city streets.
