Fast forward to now and he will be honored at the 103rd annual National Automobile Dealers Association show in Las Vegas on February 15th! The dealership trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada will be held at The Las Vegas Convention Center and is a four-day event happening from February 14th-17th. Industry leaders, manufacturers, exhibitors, and personnel from dealerships near Huntington, NY and beyond all convene to learn the latest tools, tactics, industry trends and automotive news there is out there. We are so beyond proud to have Jim as our Dealer Principal, and we cannot think of anyone else who deserves this award more! In the automotive world there have been many well-known rivalries between brands. One of which of course, is Mercedes-Benz vs. BMW. Both brands have been pioneers in the luxury vehicle industry for years, especially with their luxury SUV offerings, the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE. These two models have been around for over a decade, and pioneered the luxury SUV segment back when the Mercedes-Benz GLE was formerly known as the Mercedes-Benz ML. With both models being re-done in the past year, Motor Trend decided to take a look at the two rivals side by side and compare the two, and we think this will help our Huntington and Northport drivers that are currently shopping for their next luxury SUV!Mercedes-Benz was among the first to produce a luxury SUV when it introduced the original M-Class for the 1998 model year. Fast-forward to today: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the current GLE-Class that is still a pioneer in technology and luxury, featuring the newest infotainment system, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience also known as MBUX. With MBUX, you can utilize casual voice commands just by saying, "Hey Mercedes!" similar to Amazon Alexa, Apple's Siri, and other smart technology systems. The BMW X5 has been around for nearly as long as the Mercedes-Benz GLE.  BMW's latest iDrive system also has an assistant feature just like MBUX. In Motor Trend's comparison, they compared a 2020 BMW X5 xDrive40i with a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC. The 2020 BMW X5 xDrive40i starts at $61,695 and Motor Trend's test vehicle was priced at $73,980, while the 2020 GLE 450 starts at $62,145 and their test vehicle was priced at $84,640. Overall, Motor Trend deemed the BMW X5 earned second place, while the Mercedes-Benz GLE was the champion in this test.The difference in driving was very noticeable to Motor Trend between the two similarly equipped SUVs. Motor Trend stated, "The X5 is sure-footed on the road, but its disconnected nature makes it feel like you're behind the wheel of a robot. "Steering is quick and linear, but it doesn't provide the feel or feedback one would expect from a classic BMW," features editor Christian Seabaugh said. "It's missing that organic sensibility that the Mercedes somehow captures."Meanwhile, the GLE wowed Motor Trend with it's performance and driving abilities. Motor Trend had this to say about the GLE, "On the road, the GLE 450 continues to rise above its rivals. For its size, it handles better than you'd expect, especially when equipped one of the two available air suspension options. It goes down the road in a predictable, controlled manner thanks to its excellent body control, superior chassis calibration, and communicative steering. Mercedes' 3.0-liter turbo I-6, which features a 48-volt mild hybrid system, provides plenty of power and easily moves the GLE 450. With the integrated starter generator assisting the engine, you get smooth power delivery and a wide torque band. The nine-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly and decisively. Even when you suddenly mat the accelerator to pass slow-moving traffic, the gearbox gives you the right gear and puts the engine in its powerband." The voice commands available in the MBUX system were appreciated by Motor Trend testers, as well as the touch screen controls. These two methods of navigating the infotainment system were found to be the most effective and straightforward. While BMW's iDrive system received many updates, they still did not find it to be up to par with Mercedes-Benz. Motor Trend stated, "In typical German fashion, many functions are buried in submenus, and this partially negates the benefits of the responsive touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, which requires a yearly subscription fee after a year of ownership, didn't work smoothly and kept cutting out. Detroit editor Alisa Priddle complained that instead of embracing connectivity, BMW is fighting it by making it hard to pair your mobile devices with its vehicles." It's important to note that Mercedes-Benz offers Smartphone Integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard in the GLE, and with no yearly subscription fee.In the end, Motor Trend has dubbed Mercedes-Benz the winner of the rivalry between the two luxury SUVs. They state at the end of their article, "The attention to detail is impeccable, and the materials chosen for the interior are appropriately luxurious. As a result, the GLE 450 exudes a truly premium aura. You see and feel where that extra $10,000 you spent went the moment you get in the vehicle. The GLE 450's better-balanced chassis makes it easy to drive, the spacious cabin provides everyday practicality, and the spiffy appointments add a level of panache and sophistication missing in the X5. Saint Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Greenlawn, NY will be holding its Annual Greek Fest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 13th, 14th & 15th. " After Automobile Magazine kept an AMG G 63 for a week of joyriding, they had to simply say this, "The G63—and I mean this in the best way—is freaking nuts." Like every other Mercedes-AMG vehicle, the AMG G 63 features an engine that is hand-built by a single AMG engine-builder from start to finish, autograph and all. Hence the term, "One Man. For those looking to try Fire Island for the first time, we have compiled a guide to the Fire Island Ferries to ensure you have an excellent trip this summer. Where Is The Ferry To Fire Island? There are three different locations you can get the ferry to Fire Island, depending on which part of Fire Island you want to go to. There is the Fire Island Ferry out of Bay Shore, NY, which will take you to Ocean Beach, Ocean Bay Park, Fair Harbor, Kismet, Saltaire, Seaview, Dunewood, and Atlantique. You also have the Sayville Ferry Service, which serves the Fire Island communities of Fire Island Pines, Cherry Grove, Sailors Haven, and Water Island. If you are looking to go to Davis Park on Fire Island, you are going to want to take the Davis Park Ferry out of Patchogue, NY. This ferry strictly goes back and forth between Patchogue and Davis Park. Whichever ferry you choose to go to, you should have no problem finding it in the COMAND Navigation System found in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In a Mercedes-Benz, you will show up to the ferry on-time and in style. How Long Is The Ferry Ride to Fire Island? You'll enjoy the quick and relaxing ferry ride to Fire Island, which is only around 20-30 minutes depending on which part of Fire Island you choose to go to. Wednesday, July 3 Connetquot River Fireworks Time: 9:15 p.m. Location: Connetquot River, Oakdale Start off Fourth of July weekend right by viewing a maginificent fireworks show on the Connetquot River on the South Shore of Suffolk County. This is definetly a show you do not want to miss, and Mercedes-Benz drivers in the Commack and East Northport areas can easily drive down to where the fireworks show is happening via the Sagtikos Parkway and Southern State Parkway. Many of the viewing locations are also some of Oakdale's finest dining locations, including the Snapper Inn and VIEW. There are also many scenic points to view the fireworks, such as Oakdale Yacht Club, Nicoll's Point Marina, Vanderbilt's Wharf, Great River Town Ramp, and Timber Point Marina. Get your holiday weekend started right by taking a ride to this show! July 4 Glen Cove’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration Time: 9 p.m. Location: Morgan Memorial Park The city of Glen Cove in Nassau County, NY will be having it's annual Fourth of July Celebration on July 4th at 9 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Park. If you are headed out west for the holiday, be sure to take a ride to Glen Cove to check out the celebration! Last year, it was estimated that over 140,000 people went to Jones Beach to see this spectacular array of fireworks. Stars Over Montauk Time: 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Location: Umbrella Beach, Montauk If you are headed out to "The End" this Fourth of July weekend, you will not want to miss the Stars Over Montauk event happening on the night of Fourth of July! Sponsored by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, the Stars Over Montauk fireworks show is the perfect way to spend the night out east. Friday, July 5 American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci Time: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Location: Shinnecock Bay, Southampton The Hamptons is the perfect place to be on a holiday weekend. There is tons of fun, excitement, and events happening for everyone to enjoy! One event being the American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci in Southampton, NY. Southampton Fresh Air Home’s American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci will take place on Friday, July 5 from 7 pm to 10 pm, and will include a fun filled carnival with everything you can imagine. Games, stilt walkers, magicians, a picnic with an open-bar, music, and of course...fireworks! You do not want to miss this exciting and fun event if you are headed to the Hamptons this holiday weekend! Long Beach Fireworks Extravaganza Time: 7 p.m. Location: Long Beach & Riverside boulevards Long Beach is most known for their scenic boardwalk, exciting vibes, and beachfront views. Ward Independence Day Fireworks Time: 9:30 p.m. Location: Sag Harbor Yacht Club, 27 Bay Street Presented by the Sag Harbor Yacht Club, there will be Independence Day Fireworks held in memory of the club's most beloved members, John A. Ward. This has been a tradition of Sag Harbor for many years and has become a tradition of visitors of the East End of Long Island. Annually, this show draws around 20,000 viewers, so be sure to get there early to get a good spot! For best viewing bring a blanket to Marine Park or Haven’s Beach.
