The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class dazzles with its elegant appearance, roomy cabin and impressive turbo 4 engine. But how does it compare to the 2022 Genesis GV70, an SUV which has received praise for its sporty looks, turbo engine and outstanding service bundle?
The Genesis GV70 has standardized all-wheel drive with the ability to seat five passengers. This year the wheelbase has been extended with greater space for cargo and people. A prominent mesh style grille can be seen in front, with quad taillights and headlights as well as wing style elements along its door panels. Within the cabin you’ll be presented with a 15 inch touch display with surfaces that are covered in hardened aluminum and soft leather.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA Class has an oval shaped exterior with a roof spoiler for those that purchase the AMG® variant. Passengers within the cabin will be presented with turbine style vents which extend across a smooth dashboard that uses ambient illumination. The seats can be powered adjusted and cooled or heated depending on your preferences, and those seated in back will have nearly forty inches for leg room, with about 15 cubic feet that has been reserved for cargo.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA Class comes with all the modern safety features that drivers expect, such as cruise control that is adaptive, numerous airbags, lane control that is active, emergency automated brakes and the ability to monitor blind spots. Perks within the cabin include a camera with surround view, keyless start, steering wheel wrapped in leather, power tail gate, and panoramic sunroof.
The Genesis GV70 is similarly equipped, but did lose a point because of its rearward vision, that gets obstructed due to the unconventional pillar design. It has eight airbags with the ability to detect pedestrians along with high beams that are automated and parking sensors. Perks within its cabin include a steering wheel wrapped in leather, powered seats that can be heated or cooled, climate control and premium audio.
The Genesis GV70 is outfitted with a turbo 4, 2.5 liter engine that can generate 300 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 4.5 seconds. Those that purchase the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 will also get a turbo 4 engine which can generate 382 horsepower. This enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in 3.8 seconds.
The contest between these two SUVs is closely contested until you look under the hood. Unlike the Mercedes-Benz, the Genesis GV70 does not offer Apple CarPlay wireless, it lacks a hybrid option and its touchscreen submenus are too slow, which makes the Mercedes-Benz GLA Class the winner.
