2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2021 Lexus RX 350

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE is gifted with no less than first-rate cabin materials. Add to that, it also has a set of muscular engines to match its sporty body. There is also a version that adds to more seats to its usual five-seating configuration.

In the case of the 2021 Lexus RX 350, you will find a long list of optional and standard features. It promises good acceleration too.

Design & Style

The 2021 GLE has two body style versions. One is the coupe body style, and the other is the SUV. The SUV gives an option to expand to a seven-seating configuration with a third-row seat. Even with that, the ride still has a large cargo space that measures at 33.3 cubic feet. This can expand further to 74.9 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. The cabin is gifted with ambient LED lighting, metal accents, and a remarkable infotainment system.

In the case of the 2021 RX 350, cargo space is small. It has a floor configuration of 18.4 cubic feet which can expand to 56.3 cubic feet when rear seats are folded down. It seats up to five people for its two-row SUV and up to seven for its three-row RX L model. The front seats offer plenty of room for occupants of all sizes and ages but the third row is best left for smaller passengers. Its cabin is full of upscale materials. However, it lacks the elegance that its competitor offers, the GLE included.

Technology & Safety

Equipped with the MBUX infotainment system that has a 12.3-inch touch screen, there is much to love in the GLE’s tech features. The screen responds promptly to user inputs and displays crisp graphics via its 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. There are also controls that can be used for climate, navigation, and audio functions. Among its advanced standard safety features are driver drowsiness monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, hands-free park assist, and blind spot monitoring.

When it comes to the RX 350, expect an eight-inch touch screen that is responsive and easy to use too. It also offers voice recognition, Wi-Fi hot spot, nine-speaker audio, and satellite radio, among others. Safety equipment includes lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist, among others.

Performance

There are various engine options in the GLE. It starts with the turbo-four that rages with 255 horsepower of output. There is an inline-six turbo that results in 362 horsepower. There is a turbocharged inline-six counterpart that gives off 429 horsepower, a twin-turbo V8 that results in 483 horsepower, and a V8 that packs an impressive 503 horsepower. All RX models, on the other hand, carries a V6 that generates 295 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for a ride that suits the needs of the family, without sacrificing power and user-friendliness, you better go for the GLE. This one proves to be better than the RX 350 in all aspects.
