2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

VS
2020 Lincoln MKZ

2020 Lincoln MKZ

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class vs. 2020 Lincoln MKZ

Ranking high and mighty among luxury midsize car rankings, there are a lot of reasons to love the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. This ride is elegant inside, and is sporty outside. The athletic engine lineup makes its rivals eat dust in the runway.

For the 2020 Lincoln MKZ, expect no major changes when compared to its predecessor. This serene ride may have a large trunk, but it is less agile than those of its rivals.

Design & Style

The E-Class easily impresses with its looks. You will notice that out there is a sporty, polished look that easily makes it stand out in a pool of cars. Inside it, you will experience things even better. It has a spacious trunk which varies depending on the body type configuration. It also has four seating capacities both for the coupe and cabriolet models. The seating capacity increases to five for the sedan. It also comes standard with genuine leather upholstery.

For the 2020 Lincoln MKZ, there is a total of five seats for its passengers. It is dressed in synthetic leather front seats, with 10-way power adjustments, and heated front seats as standards. Front seats may be comfortable, but the back area is not that impressive. Thick pillars inside compromise visibility as well. The overall look for the cabin is lackluster when compared to the E-Class.

Technology & Safety

Carrying the Mercedes-Benz User Experience, the E-Class boasts an abundance of safety features. It has an intuitive pinch-to-zoom controls. Swipe controls are responsive too. The 12.3-inch touch screen displays crisp graphics as well. It is equipped with a 15-peaker stereo, two USB ports, HD radio, a navigation system, and support for smartphone integration both for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features include Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® Sound, blind spot monitoring, driver condition monitor, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, among others.

The 2020 MKZ, on the other hand, uses the SYNC 3 infotainment interface. This has an eight-inch touch screen with physical buttons and knobs used to control many of its functions. Despite that addition, it is noticeable that the physical controls seem useless since users rely on the touch screen interface. This has 11 speakers, two USB ports, satellite radio, and Wi-Fi hot spot, as well as integrates smartphone via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Standard Driver aids include forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rearview camera, and pedestrian detection, among others.

Performance

The 2021 E-Class has the base turbo-four that is praised for delivering ample power. There is a twin-turbo V8 engine that aspirates 600 horsepower. The MKZ releases 245 horsepower for its turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The twin-turbo V6 delivers 350 horsepower. Both numbers do not defeat the one registered by the E-Class engines.

The Bottom Line

There is indeed a lot of things to look forward to in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It is classy and sporty, with a long list of reliable features, and peppy engines to watch. The Lincoln MKZ shies away from this luxury ride.
