Who wouldn’t get excited with the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE? The extensive redesign for this model year holds almost all the goods for the 4th generation model. The extensive changes have been long overdue so you really can’t help having an overflow of emotions for this release.
Now, as far as big crossovers are concerned, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 is the first one from the brand. Now Cadillac can very well compete with other automakers for completing their lineup of luxury SUVs. Although it is more like the Escalade, the all-new XT6 is expected to be a lighter version. This being said, it is pretty exciting how the two vehicles would measure up against each other in this comparison.
The latest GLE is ruggedly handsome. What makes it appealing is that the design elements are cohesive even on the interior. Everything looks modern from the fender flares, massive Mercedes star, and the luxurious cabin with ambient lighting.
The XT6 has a wide toothy grille and vertical LED lighting on its front. While these details are grand, everything else on its exterior looks like straight from a generic-looking SUV. Good thing that the cabin has leather and real wood to excite things a bit. The problem, however, is that there are too many design elements that they tend to clash with each other. The door caps, for example, are made with soft leather but the trim panels are made with hard plastic.
In additional to the exceptional styling, the GLE has the latest innovations and upgrades for its technology. The MBUX entertainment comes standard for all models and it is highly regarded for its cutting-edge features and intuitiveness. Security is even made more reliable with the many safety features and driver assistants.
The infotainment for the XT6 is also generous but the bundle of safety aids is so typical. The only thing that looks innovative is the added Rear Vision Camera that feeds real-time image from the rear to the rearview mirror.
The GLE starts with a 255 hp engine on the base model. The high performing trim is the GLE 450 4MATIC® with a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine for up to 362 hp. This trim also comes with a 48-volt EQ Boost electrical system which can bring the power up by an additional 21 hp.
Both of the two trim levels of the XT6 comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine for up to 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque.
The new 2020 Cadillac XT6 came too excited for its debut that it ended up bringing more than it can handle to the table. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE, on the other hand, has balanced its qualities so well that it only became a lot well-rounded now than it was before.
