The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC is a proof of how the brand can go overboard with making their vehicles look captivating. Its looks are undoubtedly its strengths as they are its highly-rated selling factors. This crossover is also very practical aside from being a beauty.
It has been more than a decade since the Aviator model has surfaced. Thankfully, it is nothing like its predecessors and is more like the attractive Explorer. Let us find out if this revival can rival the pretty GLC.
The massive size of the GLC is put into good use with all the extra design and styling details. The LED lights and star badge, for example, are significantly bigger in it. Although it is hefty, the GLC is still sexy with its voluptuous curves and luxurious styling. The cabin is also just as sexy especially if the wood and metallic trims are chosen.
The brand dug gold out of the Navigator’s looks which may be the reason why they applied them on the Aviator. There is a mesh grille up front with an optional light-up star. Aside from the Navigator, it also got some styling cues that are reminiscent of the Explorer, Land Rover, and Jaguar. Basically, it is a mish-mash of different styles that surprisingly worked out well.
If you are looking for essential tech features, the GLC offers great standard equipment for both its infotainment and active safety features. There is a built-in Mercedes Benz audio interface for a superb entertaining ride. For the driver aids, the adaptive cruise control deserves a nod with its world-class quality performance.
The Aviator has the latest Sync 3 system for its infotainment. There is satellite radio, plenty of charging options, and even a Wi-Fi connection onboard. Its safety features are all standard, including a rearview camera with a built-in washer.
The 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque engine on the GLC is mighty enough to make the car feel light on the road. It demonstrates a confidence-inspiring acceleration and authoritative power even at highway speeds. The steering is responsive too and an easy to modulate brake pedal.
The Aviator is also out to impress with a V6 engine for its first three out of five trim levels. Although it keeps composed on the road, its size and weight definitely affects an otherwise good performance.
The 2021 Lincoln Aviator may be impressive on the engine part but it lacks a unique personality to make it truly shine. It is lovely but it just doesn’t feel right to have other car models’ design characteristics being mixed together. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC, on the other, hand is compelling both in performance and styling. It is due to the fact that it sets the standards for design and styling and never copied from other successful vehicles.
