The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS is a huge family car that can comfortably seat the whole family in luxurious comfort. It is unlike other big vehicles in a way that premium features are also prioritized on top of the cargo space. It may be a relatively new vehicle compared to the brand’s usual lines but many large SUV enthusiasts are already huge fans.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Lexus LX line elevates its status towards world-class status. The brand offers the large SUV in three flavors: the two-row LX 570, three-row LX 570, and the LX inspiration series. With two ultra-capable vehicles, which one will dominate the big SUV scene?
The new GLS has a few updates to its big and boxy exterior. It now sports a unique badging and is installed with adaptive headlights. There is also an option to get either the standard 20-inch or the 21-inch wheels. The cushy cabin also received minor but substantial upgrades. Both the 1st and second rows have comfortable seats while the third row remains roomy enough either for extra passengers or more luggage.
The superior craftsmanship of the LX starts from its exterior. It commands a respectable stance and the LED illumination is eye-catching. Its style and grace can also be observed inside its cabin. There is ample cargo space and expansive seating.
The GLS offers a number of customization options for its infotainment system. If you do not want to confuse yourself as to what package to get, you can always choose to have the basic one. The COMAND® system is already a great choice on its own and everyone will definitely enjoy the ride with its entertaining prowess.
As for the LX, the Lexus Enform is a convenient entertainment system that controls the cutting-edge technology features. It is just annoying that anyone will find the UI a bit confusing. It will take a while to get used to the system especially because it has its own set of apps.
The modest performance of the GLS base model is courtesy of the V6 engine that can get up to 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Though it is not as powerful as the V8 version, the V6 is just as quick to accelerate and will never stumble.
The LX, on the other hand, has a V8 engine that can produce up to 383 horsepower. It is just a few notches against the hp of the GLS. The towing capacity is also a bit lower at 7,000 lbs while the base model of the GLS can comfortably tow up to 7,500 lbs with the V6 engine.
The 2019 Lexus LX looks spectacular with the modernized touch on its exterior styling. The Enform infotainment is also better even if it is not that user-friendly. It, however, failed to come up with a stronger performance than the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS. The V6 engine of the GLS appears stronger than the V8 of the LX.
