Made by an esteemed car manufacturer, one would expect nothing less than great from the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC. It really lives up to the premium status of its name and has no problem with flaunting its luxurious refinements. These qualities are what the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace should be concerned about. Although it has successfully carved out its own space among the luxury crossover SUV segment, there are still a lot of things that the F-Pace should be able to improve on. The GLC adopts a rounder and softer appearance that is almost similar to that of the latest FLE family. It is longer in wheelbase and is also a bit taller and wider. This extra length significantly improved the interior space, especially the back-seat legroom. There are also lavish details on the cabin that gave the interior a plush ambiance.
Unlike the sexy silhouette of the GLC, the Jaguar is sportily blended with utility. The signature Jaguar grille and the prominent headlights remained from its predecessor’s design. As for its cabin, it is classy but it lacks the visual appeal to make it look premium.

The GLC has an 8.4-inch touch screen display, a high-quality audio system, and exceptional navigation and driver aids. The user interface for its infotainment is easy to use and it is very convenient to access even while driving.
The audio and navigation systems of the F-Pace have an easy menu structure. The smartphone integration, however, is inconsistent. It is frustrating to connect with the infotainment system because of the unresponsive commands, missing songs, and there are times when the songs are repeated. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available options for this year.
The GLC has a 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque engine under its hood. This set up is ample to produce an authoritative transmission. It has an excellent road grip and can stay firmly flat on the road at quick turns. It is actually more capable than one would expect even from its base trim.
The base trim of the F-Pace has a 2.0-liter engine with 247 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. It does not have a responsive power delivery and steering is inconsistent. The road feedback is minimal and there is no straight-ahead feel.
Even though the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace looks confident with its meaner exterior, it lacks the capabilities to prove that it is superior to the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC. The GLC has a sophisticated design that one can easily see why it is a luxury vehicle. It also has sufficient technology to back its claims of being a tech-forward car.
