The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is full of upgrades although most of them are not too obvious at a quick glance. Almost all of the updates are concentrated on its cabin and engine and this is fine since the C-Class always wore a beautiful exterior. Its striking profile is unmistakable even when placed side by side with a newer vehicle, like the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The new Bolt EV is also given a boost for this model year. It is a charming modern electric car but will it have enough juice to compete against the C-Class?
The C-Class looks poised and has a powerful stance. It still sports the same sleek body sculpting that evokes a seductive style. There is plenty of wheel choices to either tone done or amplify its strong personality. The elegant shape is complemented with all-LED headlights. The cabin, on the other hand, is full of amenities that are harmoniously put together.
The Bolt EV looks nice but it is not likely to make heads turn as it passes by. Its boxy shape makes it look like a van from a distance. It looks smaller up close because by then one can appreciate its tall profile. The cabin looks dated and cheap with all the plastic surfaces and cluttered array of controls and contours on the dashboard.
The feature-rich infotainment is headlined by a 10.25-inch center screen. On the steering wheel are two control touchpads to access and control the different features. It is equipped with the COMAND® system that has a voice-control feature too. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard equipment on the C-Class and this makes it possible to enjoy Smartphone features with the vehicle.
The Bolt EV has advanced phone connectivity features but the whole infotainment system has slow responses. What it lacks are safety features that are already standard on most vehicles in the same class.
The C-Class now has more power to make the car rank high inefficiency. It has a 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque for the C 300 model. It can deliver a quick and smooth drive with the nine speeds to choose from.
The Bolt EV has a generous total output of 200 hp from its electric motor. While this is more than enough for an electric vehicle, its performance is dragged down by the weight of the big battery pack that is placed in the floor for added stability.
Looks more gorgeous than the Bolt EV. The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV is probably one of the best electric motor vehicles there is today but it is nowhere near the ranks of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The C-Class is more powerful both in performance and innovative in-car tech and it also helps that it
